Prayut found guilty, barred from office

The Constitutional Court found Thai Rak Thai list MP Prayut Mahakijsiri guilty of concealing his assets by a vote of 12-1 yesterday.

Mr Prayut lost his House seat and was barred from political office for five years.

Judge Preecha Chalermvanich was the dissenting opinion, finding Mr Prayut did not intend to hide his assets.

The vote to decide Mr Prayut's fate was called before court president Prasert Nasakul read the Thaksin verdict yesterday.

There were only 13 votes because Jumpol na Songkhla was on leave while Sak Techacharn could not vote because he did not deliberate the Prayut case from the beginning.
