PM clocks up another B70m

Thaksin Shinawatra's assets have increased by almost 70 million baht in less than two months, according to his latest financial disclosure as education minister.

In his declaration to the National Counter Corruption Commission on April 14, Mr Thaksin had a combined wealth of 576 million baht including 118.7 million baht in stocks and investments. No debts were declared.

On Feb 26, after he became prime minister, Mr Thaksin declared assets worth about 508 million baht. His liabilities were 60 million baht arising from his guarantee of a loan.

Khunying Pojamarn, his wife, declared assets of 9.7 billion baht, a decrease of 184 million baht compared to the February declaration.

Her assets included 231 million baht in savings accounts, 220 million baht in stocks, 1.4 billion baht in investments, 860 million baht in land and property.

Their two daughters declared combined assets worth about 4.9 billion baht, most of them in the form of stocks and investments. Their son, Panthongthae, is an adult and does not need to declare his assets, worth 20 billion baht.

Deputy Education Minister Sirikorn Maneerin declared assets worth 109 million baht including 54 million baht in land and property.

Her spouse declared assets worth 20 million baht and debts of 700,000 baht while their two children had combined assets worth 50 million baht.
