The Annual Flower Show returns to Bangkok for its 23rd year at Swissotel Nai Lert Park from November 26 to 29, 10am to 6pm. Under the theme, "Future Perfect", more than 20 professional florists will turn the hotel's interior into a land of flowers, as well as create floral hats for 35 celebrities, including model Sonia Couling, MR Srikhumrung Yugala, Sikanya Saktidej Bhanubandh and Boonyapa Benjarongkul. The garden competition, "Green Your Space", will be held on November 25, and HRH Princess Srirasm will preside over the opening ceremony at 3:30pm. Other activities include booths for cartoon portraits, afternoon tea and the Thai property market.

Proceeds from the four-day event will go to help improve the future of students at Umphang Wittayakom School, Tak province. Tickets are 20 baht for students (in uniform), 50 baht for children under 12, and 100 baht for adults.

SERENITY FOUND IN RAPID GROWTH

Chiang Mai-based artist Olarn Plubplon expresses his appreciation for the acceleration of today's society with his semi-abstract work under the "Dusk" art exhibition being held at Art Republic until December 26. The oil works on canvas will hopefully be an outlet for those who sometimes forget to stop and truly appreciate the serenity of nature amidst the rapid progression of technology. The gallery is on the third floor of Peninsula Plaza, and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 7pm. Call 02-652-1801, or visit http://www.artrepublicbkk.com.

A WITNESS TO THE WORLD

What do you think about when you're sitting down and being just a silent observer? Experience first-hand the "Universal in the Witness" at Galerie N until December 27. Sivadol Sitipol and Verapat Sitidol express their experiences as quiet witnesses, and consider and recreate their point of views in the form of paintings and sculptures. Both artists also utilise the exchange of objects and minds in their art pieces. Verapat conveys all that comes and goes through colourful abstract paintings on canvas and paper, while Sivadol is a prominent artist in the Thai stone sculpture field.

Galerie N is on Wireless Road. Free admission. Call 02-252-1592 or 08-6601-7111.
