RECITAL BY TALENTED KOREAN PIANIST

D&M Music Studio presents a piano recital by Dr Juyeon Kang, a concert artist and educator lauded as a pianist of formidable technique and exquisite sound, at Goethe Institute Bangkok on Mon, July 13 at 8pm. She will then head for the north to give another performance at AUA Language Centre in Chiang Mai on Wed, July 15 at 7pm.
The evening programme will feature Bach's Partita No. 3 in A Minor, BWV 827; Beethoven's Polonaise in C Major, Op 89, Piazzolla's Tango Suite (arranged by Kyoko Yamamoto) and Schumann's Davidsbundlertanze, Op 6 (Dances of the League of David).

Dr Kang has appeared extensively as soloist and chamber musician in the US, Spain, Finland, Italy and her homeland Korea. She launched a performance career that included her debut solo recital in Boston's Jordan Hall after winning two first prizes in 1998 - the Heida Hermann's Young Artists Competition in Connecticut and the Josef Hofmann Piano Competition in South Carolina.
The latter competition led to an invitation to perform at the Embassy of Poland in Washington, DC, where she presented the Chopin Commemorative Piano Concert on the 150th anniversary of Chopin's death.
Her solo appearance with orchestras include South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Hingham Symphony Orchestra, Augusta Symphony Orchestra, and Korean Symphony Orchestra, and her performances have been aired on television in Korea and on National Public Radio in New York, Massachusetts, Georgia and South Carolina.
She earned a doctor of musical arts in piano performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She also received the Artist Diploma in piano performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she was on the faculty in the college division.
Tickets for the Bangkok concert on July 13 cost 400 baht (200 baht for students) and can be purchased from Robinson Piano Showroom at Siam Discovery (tel 02-658-1080/1), while tickets for the July 15 show cost 300 baht (200 baht for students) and are available at the door.
