The Conrad Hotel Bangkok and the Royal Over-Seas League invite interested students aged 14-20 to enter the "The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2009" to vie for a trophy from HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Students with talents in western classical music are invited to enter β€˜β€˜The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2009’’. Applications must be submitted by Jan 30.

The competition recognises young performers with an exceptionally high level of talents in western classical music in five categories - piano, string, woodwind, brass and percussion.

Eligible contestants must be Thai citizens or foreigners who have been resident in Thailand for no less than one year, and they must have their applications endorsed by their university, school or musical academy.

A panel of Thai and international adjudicators will select a maximum of 30 candidates for the second round of the competition, known as Evaluation Days, which will take place on Feb 21-22 at the Conrad Hotel.

The final round is scheduled for April 4 in the presence of 350 specially invited guests and ambassadors. The award ceremony will take place on the same evening.

The overall winner will receive a trophy given by HM the King, a 100,000-baht cash prize and a trip to London to perform in a concert.

Contestants must submit the completed entry form together with a musical CD or DVD featuring a recording of two pieces of western classical music - one fast and one slow - with the maximum length of 10 minutes to the Royal Over-Seas League, The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2009, 34th floor, Abdulrahim Place, Rama IV Road, Bangkok 10500. The submission deadline is Jan 30.
