Time warp

Do you know how your dog uses its tongue to drink? How does a face contort when punched by a UFC contender? What happens when an apple is hit by a bullet? These are just a few events that happen at speeds beyond the perception of our normal senses.

In a world where everything is speeding up, Time Warp slows it down to unveil the motion of high-velocity events in spectacular clarity. The programming airs every Wed at 8pm on TrueVisions UBC 50.

In Discovery Channel's new series Time Warp, hosts Jeff Lieberman and Matt Kierney will alter speed and radically change the lens of time by breaking down each of these events to show us exactly what happens.

Episodes of Time Warp premiere every Wed at 8pm and repeat the same night at 11pm, on Thur at 7am and 3pm, Sat at 1pm and midnight and Sun at 5pm on Discovery Channel.

Jeff Lieberman, scientist and teacher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Matt Kearney, a digital photography expert, use new technologies to bring never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body and brain can actually process and comprehend.

Using high-speed photography, Jeff and Matt take some natural events (a cat licking its paw, a champagne bottle being opened) - and some not-so-natural (a water balloon to the face, a piece of raw chicken exploding) - and turn them into things of both beauty and learning, in frame-by-frame clarity.
