Chic Italian fashion house Fendi introduces its Spring/Summer 2009 collection designed by fashion doyen Karl Lagerfeld.

Spring/Summer 2009 is all about a romantic neutral palette with extraordinary fabrications that bring out the airily romantic mood of the collection.

Bell-shaped dresses - with the 'oublot' belts and three levels of sheer fabric in the skirt, give the dress a cinch-waist modern silhouette. It's all about lightness, levity using mainly black, white and pastel palette, with sharp curves swaying over pencil petticoats veiling the knees creating a totally new arched slimness.

Leather was cut to resemble the most delicate of lace together with techno-tulle, glassy-organza, 3D beehive-net, futuristic nylon-filigree, glowing crepe-de-chine, nappa cabochons, knotted jute linen and silk-wool satin.

The S/S 09 collection is all about a romantic neutral palette with extraordinary fabrications that bring out the airily romantic mood.

Karl Lagerfeld's technical dexterity and artistic imagination can be shown in his work where he squared the circle, cutaway trellis-work, 'guipure', three-cornered pleating and applique-sprayed or mink blooms. Luxurious and innovative craftsmanship was shown with the first ever transparent fur.

Meanwhile, Silvia Fendi played with the concept of dualism and came up with one of this season's highlight - the new Peekaboo bag. Peekaboo bag gets its name from the unique design where one side drapes open and each with a contrasting interior and contrasts has always been a part of Fendi's creativity.

This bag gives a carefree and effortless look and the side pouches may be left undone or pulled up and attached to the turn lock. This bag comes in a range of colours and materials - crisp white crocodile, black patent, textured lace, and woven toile - each with a unique and contrasting choice of interior material. RT
