The fluidity of the movements, the crafty defensive manoeuvres and the facial expressions of the combatants add to the appeal of watching matches. Some fighters are so skilled that their battles can be considered art.

Martial arts have been around since mankind's earliest days. Early humans needed these skills to protect their tribes.

Martial arts have since gone from a necessity for survival to a recreational pursuit.
