The force of nature

Are we at the mercy of the elements or is man partly responsible for the recent flooding in Thailand?

What is your idea of a flood crisis? And are those 50 provinces hit by floods merely the unlucky victims of Mother Nature who has unveiled her fierce face, and unleashed her fury to flood two thirds of the country?

Mother Nature has been beautiful and cruel since this Earth was born. In the past, the country has suffered heavy storms, perhaps even worse than during this flood crisis. Remember Typhoon Gay that hit Chumphon province in 1989?

Many of you who have lived long enough may remember some areas in Bangkok - especially Moo Ban Seri, a housing estate in the Ramkhamhaeng area - being inundated with flood waters for months at a time.
