Homeward bound

Getting across the river to Thon Buri can be a tortuous journey at the best of times, but flooded roads have turned it into an expedition of marathon proportions

I didn't value my home all that much until the recent deluge made me realise that it is indeed where a part of my heart resides.

This privately owned truck dropped us off in the Sanam Luang 2 from where many people had to wade through water to reach their destinations.

Five days after moving out, I decided to go back and check on my house. It was November 6. I left the Bangkok Post offices in Klong Toey, where I have taken temporary refuge, at about six in the morning. My destination was a housing estate in Thawi Watthana district on the other side of the city.
