Bo Nok Beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan is pristine as ever, and is still the mistress of its destiny

It seems years ago that Bo Nok made headlines when residents of this village in Prachuap Khiri Khan stood up to powers that be and kept out a coal-fired power plant planned for their neighbourhood.

Bo Nok villagers earn their living through fishing in the Gulf of Thailand.

As I sat under a shade on Bo Nok Beach (during my escape from the recent flooding in Bangkok) where Krua Chom Warn (Whale Watch Kitchen and Resort) is located, it is hard to believe that anyone could think of destroying this pristine strip of beach and turning it into an industrial area.
