Dao's heartbreaking childhood memoir was more than just a sad birthday party or a dysfunctional family. At 13, her young life was shattered.

Back in 1995, the girl from a small town in the Northeast was promised a nanny's job overseas but she was sold to a Sydney brothel, forced to have sex with more than 100 men over a 10-day period. Then she was arrested by immigration police and deported to Thailand.
