The ukulele is proving to be the little instrument that could with uke fever sweeping Thailand and an international festival celebrating it set for the weekend

Peng Ratchaworapong admits his ukulele obsession has gotten the better of him. ''I probably own about 16 now,'' he says. ''But they are so small and so cute right? They don't take up much space. Think about it like a woman and her shoes.''
As owner of the Baan Ukulele store and the School of Ukulele Lovers, Mr Peng is one of Thailand's leading uke enthusiasts, and he is far from alone in his love for the instrument.
Next weekend some 5,000 people are expected to attend the second Ukulele Thailand Festival at Parc Paragon where uke artists from Thailand and around the world will perform.
