Despite his many business and political links, Anutin Charnvirakul prefers a table for one

[B]Former Deputy Minister of Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul, the subject of this month's Power Lunch column, surely is an influential figure in Thailand's political circle. But the 46-year-old key executive of the Bhum Jai Thai Party, who has attended a great number of five-star dinners and is famous for his discerning epicurean lifestyle, insists that for eight out of 10 meals, people in public will see him eat alone.

"I'm quite a reclusive person," the engineer-turned-politician, who's vigilant in his thoughts and words, said.

"I love being alone and don't need company. Being by myself, I can always be in control."
