Re: CHANGES IN THAI LIVING

The gradual decline of Thai Airways domestic routes and frequency. And then the allowance of regional/domestic fly-by-night {no pun intended} airlines that retain unworthy business practices.

Re: Need a bit of education on Thai law

My Thai marriage license has long ago yellowed and is crumbling with age. We have now retired in Thailand, and I read all of the English language papers and some forums. I haven't chosen to indulge in rants for or against the practices or policies of Thailand. I choose to leave that to the disgrunt...

Re: Good Private Schools in Thailand

International? Internationalized? Don't you mean "Eurocentric"? Sure....that's obviously regarding a Western-style education and the resulting product. Doesn't guarantee such knowledge, connections, nor awareness. You needn't look any further than to observe the "average" Western...

Re: About Face.

Your exposure and experiences are rather closeted, aren't they? Unfortunately, the circles that you have kept are incredibly small - therefore, that's all you know. And then go on to pretend that you have real knowledge about the society. Such Nonsense. By the way, we aren't missing you. Please, sta...

Re: About Face.

Easier to just accept what is, instead of attempting to compare social connectings. That is immpossible to compare the varitable and diverse Asian rhetorical paradox with the Farang counterpart.

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

I never understood it...but I never really cared! I think martinus made a good point here (paying taxes) ...but on the other hand "being kept in good shape with tax money"...I don't want to discuss the "good shape "- part really! Why does this not surprise me that you don't &quo...

Farang and their seemingly paradoxical ways

As a long-historied Farang resident myself, comfortable and understanding, I have to ask the age old question regarding Westerners that find it necessary to stay/live here while finding life so objectionable in many ways. Why is this so? I've experienced this throughout Asia {in particular the LOS} ...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

Well....this can be a common practice throughout Asia for Western residents. Double pricing standards. It is what it is. I've questioned such nonsense myself, but don't take it too seriously. Don't feel put-down-upon or don't feel they're attempting to rip you off. Just the way it is. I've lived her...

Siam Society membership

Though I've been distantly associated with the distinguished Siam Society in Bangkok off and on for years, I have yet to make a move to join. I looking to sign on as a dues paying member. Can anyone out there, in the know, give me some tips or critique about the Siam Society?
