Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

I'm Thai, but I'm not going to defend the double pricing system here. The Argument that foreigners (who come to Thailand), who supposedly have more money than Thais, do have to pay more does not sound right to me. I mean these prices are not taxes that the more money you have, the more you have to ...

Re: PAD and foreigners

Chinese cannot own Thai property, even if they are married to Thais. The only people allowed to own land in Thailand are Thais. The so called Chinese that do own land are second generation or greater. The reason the Chinese Thai control most middle class businesses is through hard work, pooling mon...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

Pulise, When I change my Euro into Thai Baht, I get exactly the same rate as Thai people! So... what's your point? I think I can explain it for him/her. Pulise apparently has this notion that every currency on Earth should be exchanged on a 1 to 1 basis: thus 1 baht should be exchanged for 1 Euro. ...

This is not a plea for help, but a warning to all foreigners living in Thailand as "dang dao".

Sorry from my ignorance, but what is (a) "dang dao"?

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

We farang typically have AT LEAST 5 times the disposable income of 90% of Thai's, so why should Thais be paying farang prices? Surely they should have equal access to enjoy all the great experiences Thailand has to offer. I think the question is not why should 'Thais be paying farang prices', rathe...

Re: Is Farang an f word?

This Thai word “farang” is usable in media and no one sees it as rude except people who misunderstand its true meaning, because it simply means “European foreigner.” How can you say no-one sees it as rude, when it is obvious that Eggmeng, and many others, do see it as rude? And he clearly ...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

I had a look at the Palm Hills Golf Resort web site and saw prices different to what is stated above and nothing about dual pricing. http://palmhills-golf.com/golf_course_fee.php Then you didn't look very hard :-) The dual pricing (Green Fee + Caddy = 650 บาท - Thai Golfers Green Fee + Caddy = 950 ...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

International students pay triple the price in UK and Australia for tuition fee. Will you also consider this as a cheating too. Or only Thais can cheat and Westerners always good people no matter what? In Australia people pay (often significant) taxes all their working lives to support the publicly...

Re: What Happened to Samui??

First went to Samui in 1985 - it was really undeveloped and lovely. Went back in 1989, and was staggered at how quickly it had changed (but still very nice). Then went back again in 2006 - was expecting a huge shock and received it. I can well understand that there has been a lot of development, but...
