Re: Why do Thais have disrespect of the law

I'd like to agree with all of the above. It's sad and frustrating to see a dark side of society like this. corruption -- division -- mistrust -- disrespect wealth -- tradition -- disrespect hierarchy -- caste -- seniority -- disrespect no education -- no order -- disrespect no model -- no precedent ...

Re: Yingluck / Abhisit Public Debate?

Good proposal. But I can see someone throwing a curve ball in there and smear the debate, like accusing there was a leak before the event...then debate becomes mooted and another laughable memory.

Re: Ms. Yingluck - Puea Thai Leadership role?

Yingluck should use her non-political status as her strength. There are cases all over where a virgin politician entered the political ring and stood on not-a-career-politician-and-therefore-not-corrupted. I am no in Thailand and am not up to date with daily news. Is that what she is doing? The medi...

I Can't wait 30 years from now

I don't know what's going to happen this year or next few years, but 30 years from now, I can see Thailand being a nice country to live in. Hopefully I'm still around and retiring in the coast of Thailand. The train system is well organized and you can hop on it to anywhere in the country. The curre...

China should offer Thai... How elite r u?

Just a thought: China should offer Thailand congratulations on successfully (for now) shutting down the opposition which is hard to do this day in age. China, N. Korea, Iran and Thailand can now be grouped together, but Thailand has no heavy weapons yet. How elite r u? It will be interesting and sad...

Re: Not Impressed by Thai Education

RogerR, I didn't read through all the posts but still want to add my opinion to the matter. In the past I was fortunate to meet some of the top Thai students who made it here to the States to study at their dreams schools like Harvard, Stanford, etc. I am not impressed at all at the caliber of these...

Re: Special of the Day...Intolerance

That's is bad. But when you are in the circle or the group thinking you don't see that. If you live and work in Bangkok, your thinking had better be yellow or leaning yellow. If your view is different, you can't say that openly at your office or school. Your very post on this forum, for example, mig...

Would A Monk Make a Good PM?

Just thinking outside the box here. My question: Would a Monk Make a Good Prime Minister? This is hypothetical, but I'm just wondering. If we are looking for honest politicians, especially the top position, would a monk be a perfect candidate? Also assuming that this monk has other qualifications al...

If Taksin and Abhisit were both out, who would be the next

If Taksin and Abhisit were out, who would be the next best PM for Thailand? Any new comers that's clean, fair and transparent? Anyone that will bring the people together. Is there such a leader that will inspire us to be better citizens? Or is this not the role of PM? Anyone that will let the past b...

Pay 200 baht to the cop

Corruption runs deep in people. I think corruption has to do with group thinking. Of course there's greed, but it's greed and group thinking combined that makes it rampant and it's what we see everywhere, not just in Thailand. Here we are in an internet forum, discussing what's wrong and what's righ...
