Re: The beaches of Thailand

I am afraid there is nothing much westerners can do about it. It is like preaching in an empty church... I am living here for over ten years now and it's becoming worse year after year! What a pity. Quick money rules everywhere in Thailand, Poor people do not care and actually they cause a lot of en...

My conclusion is that it is crystal-clear you did not read the whole thread.

Re: Buying goldplates in Thailand

jamjon01, Suppose I want to buy gold in Thailand, because I am here for a while. Suppose later I want to sell the plates in a European country because I am not in Thailand anymore... I am almost sure I will not get Thai goldplates easily sold there, not because they are Thai but because they are onl...

Buying goldplates in Thailand

I consider to buy gold in Thailand, as a security/investment. Asking for information in Thai gold/jewelry shops I found out that the goldplates ( 1,2,5 and 10 Baht) only contain 96.5 % of pure gold , whereas in Europe and probably in other so-called Western countries, goldbars contain 99,9999 % of p...

Re: Is Farang an f word?

Dear November-rain, I really enjoyed reading your post... At the beginning of my stay in Thailand, I remember being asked all the time, where am I going?! At first, I felt like saying, this is not your business, but I refrained from doing this. I just put my finger in the air to feel where the wind ...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

As it seems to be possible for some foreigners to pay Thai prices, I wonder what the official policy of Thai government would be. Does anybody know and by this I mean not from hearsaying? Personally I never visit those places, so I really do not know ... but as most of us Farang, living here (longti...

Re: Is Farang an f word?

May I suggest to stop this whole item: Some people for good reasons dispise the word farang, others do not care, also for good reasons.
Can we please go on with our lives, being called Farang or not?

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

My first post here. Just came to Thailand a week ago and I want to live here. Will be taking language lessons in Chiangmai. Trying to extend my 30 day visa. I feel that special tourist prices (coming from Greece) is nothing new. It's the same in Greece. In fact, I see very little difference between...

Re: Double pricing system in Thailand

I think that this practice of double pricing is being demonized way too much here. Being a visitor to Thailand I really didn't "feel" the bite of special tourist pricing. If I felt something was more expensive than it should, I just didn't purchase. That's simple economics. In fact, I fou...
