Re: The Developing Country Needs Assistance And Help

Sorry, fellows...but I don't understand one word of what you are saying! It all sounds like empty-headed, perhaps inebriated pontification to me!

Re: Suvarnabhumi hates "Dang Dao".

Does Suvanabhumi exist for the convenience of travelers or for the workers? I returned yesterday from a trip out of the country and went to the usual Express Shuttle Bus stop outside of doors 9 and 10, where there are signs in English. After waiting almost 25 minutes and still no bus (and no place t...

Re: The Ever-Present Tortured Expat and the Paradox

I too sense a growing frustration on the part of farangs toward many things Thai, but I think a large part of it is frustration over the way things are done over here. Thailand wants to be so "modern", so "Western", but they just can't seem to get it right and consistently come u...

Re: Raising Our Voices Together

Your proposal is honorable and well-intended, but no organization can operate outside of the legal/judicial system. Instead, the laws must be strengthened, respected, enforced and obeyed.

Re: Only for foreigners. Please, be honest.

Health and safety come before a romantic, emotional attachment to an "adopted" country. If the situation became life threatening, I would pull out quickly or retreat to a safer area.

Re: Moving to Thailand. Shipping personal belongings duty fr

Two comments based on personal experience: When I moved here in 2007 I brought nothing with me but 2 suitcases; however, I shipped a piece of antique Thai ceramic that I purchased on a previous trip but did not want to carry. It was shipped by a large, reputable US company and I truthfully declared ...

Re: Postal Service

I too have had problems with mail delivery - regular mail not arriving or being VERY slow, and a package sent from the US which never made it to my residence here. The mail delivery system seems to be very casual - the delivery men apparently are outside contractors and not direct employees of the p...

Re: Marrying in Thailand

Let me see if I can add some detail without muddying the waters too much... I agree that the Thai legal system and regulations are byzantine maze, with conflicting requirements and unclear English translations. Also, you must be certain to comply with all of the preliminaries: these you can find onl...

Re: 15% flighttax on airfare prices to Thailand

If the flight tax happens, you can say goodbye to the entire tourism industry! Thailand's greatest achievement is shooting itself in the foot.
