Re: Rude immigration staff

Thai airport immigration staff barely care enough to look at you. Their emotions seem to range between cold indiffernce andf blatent contempt for tourists. It may be a dull job, but that is no excuse. As others have said, hand over your passport, stand still, do not lean on his desk and say thankyou...

Re: Airport Link opens

I read the same article and took things differently. I think the 15baht ticket is a flat rate for the first few months while they iron out any problems and maybe to encourage people to 'try it out'. The lowest fair on the BTS is 20 baht, but they do not charge 20 baht per station. Even if the journe...

Re: Western Democracy Vs Thai Democracy

I never really see Thai politicians offering policies, it seems to be 'Vote for me, I am nice'. It really strikes me as business men looking to forward their business ventures. It also seems to me that Thais do not care enough to do anything about the problems as polticians are rich and rich people ...

Re: How do you manage your garbage?

Interesting topic  I live in an apartment block and the staff seem to do a pretty good job of seperating rubbish (I'm from the UK) to sell. They box up the beer bottles, crush plastic etc. I presume they sell it as it seems to dissapear. For my part I tend to seperate it into bags and leave ...

Re: Is Farang an f word?

The word Farang is not a bad thing when you consider that most Thais do not really have a clue where we are from. It is the word that comes with the Farang that is important. Nice, dirty, polite, mean etc etc. That is what I listen for.

Re: crude or tourism

Thais will always chase a fast profit and to heck with the enviroment. As for oil, we all want it and we want it cheaply, but we complain when people try and get it.

Re: Is the Thai education responsible?

Nobody is responsible for anything in Thailand. The cultural aspects of not questioning authority dampens any desire to learn and question. There is also an aspect of Bhuddism that decrys questioning. Thais seem to seek enjoyment more than knowledge. This would explain grown men reading children's c...

Re: Wall Street Institute Unscrupulous

So what is your complaint? If a person signs up for something and pays out of their own free will, why should a company that sells that legal product lose out on the whim of a customer. Education is an investment at the end of the day and students are investing in their own future. I am sure it is a...

Re: Thais and their stupid politics

As most of the leaders and/or potential leaders are Chinese and as Chinese are rather clannish and prefer to 'keep it in the family' it seems par for the course. Thai politics is really just a business and anyone who can get their snouts in the trough will make a lot of money. In the UK politicians ...
