Thaksin corrupted the whole of his political movement, their associates, their organizations and the rank and file members.

Thaksin supporters believe its OK to win elections corruptly and then rob the nation by corruption to keep power.

Thaksin was paying the politicians in his movement and party so that they were all corrupt by association and could not initiate actions against Thaksin and could not avoid defending Thaksin because of their own corruption in taking Thaksin's money.

Thaksin corrupted the whole of his society and his side of politics.

I believe he did.

He still exercises control over Thai politics from abroad, and is orchestrating the whole red shirt mess. It is well known that most of the red shirts are being paid to join the rallys and protests, just as they were paid to vote for Thaksin when he came to power.

This whole mess evokes an old story about Solomon to me. Two women went to Solomon with one baby. Each said the baby belonged to them, so Solomon said he would cut the baby in half so each could have a piece. One agreed, the real mother didn't.

Thaksin seems happier to see the whole country torn apart so that he can come back as a returning hero.

What price his ego is exacting from the country I love.

The problem is that all high ranking officials operate on the old British commissioned officer model. Therefore they have to pay to gain their position. As a consequence they have to get a return on that investment. Therefore corruption rules OK?

Until the system of corruptocracy changes to a system od democracy nothing will change. What is happening in Thailand with the Yellow Shirts and the Red Shirts , no matter how sad, is a necessary part of the process towrads democracy and has to occur if thailand is to become the great nation that it should be.

Education is the key to ending this dispute. In 20 to 50 years when at least one generation of adults have obtained a half decent education, they will be able to make political judgements and vote in a government to advance Thailand's future rather than their own finacial future. This will happen but Thailand will have to undergo a lot more pain, in the same way that other countries have had to endure pain on the way to democracy and prosperity.
