Hey 100% Issan dreamer , you speak to me of RACISM!!, get real, look at the TV for a few hours tonight , look at all the stars on the TV adds and programmes, 98% are milk bottle white or are of mixed farang /Thai parentage , a brown skin is frowned upon as somehow not beautiful , the whole country has got an acute dose of Michael Jackson syndrome, advertisements are on TV every 10 minutes or so to promote whitening agents and soaps ( some quite dangerous) containing mercury , brown skinned Issan Thai,s haven,t a hope of competing for a job with their white skinned counterparts from Bangkok , and that is why 95% of the ladys who work in the "entertainment"areas of Phuket, Pattaya,and Bangkok come from Issan .

Most people ask why Thais or asian people in general love lily white skin. Perhaps a better question to ask is why most Western cauasian man go for brown skin girls?

The entire Asia including China and India has a population of over 2.5 billion and these people worship fair skin. I am sure they want to know why western caucasian man go for brown skin girls. Apart from being seen as healthy skin, what other attraction is there?

Also, please bear in mind that the 95% of the ladies working in entertainment areas in phuket, pattaya and bangkok from Issan who are brown skin are meant to cater only solely for Western caucasian man.

95% of Thais and Asian clientele won't touch these girls with a 100 feet barge pole. Likewise, there are many fair skin ladies catering for Thais and Asian clientele where 95% of the western caucasian man won't touch these girls with a 100 feet barge pole.

Actually, my point of view is that such segragation is good since Thais/Asians won't have to fight with Western caucasian man over the same girl. The line drawn is kinda black/brown and white!!!

USA is the only country that has "KICK OUT FOREIGNER" and benefit from it. the natives of US are foreigner / alien to farang at that time. (tis vis avis intepretation, i learn from hanuman)

after taking over all the land and resources, and with farang' great benevolence, give back some plot of land to the natives under indian resevations, grant them total democratic rights to ruin themselves.
with casinos,drugs,hookers and drinks that left thousands of poor and destitutes in the resevations, the gov looking the other way as the natives are suppose to be in charge.

the democratic election of the black president is a fluke and a default. due to
the nutured instantanous unthinking farang response of frustrations against bush man, the quality of a not so smart pale pink vs black abhisit, coupled with black for black, non-white for non-white.

I think it's pointless to try and trace origins with the intention of calling this person or that a foreigner. Even the aborigines of Australia came from Sri lanka so just who are the "natives"?

The human race supposedly became "human" somewhere around what's now called Iraq several thousand years ago. Think about it. As most of us have legs, it's our nature to move.

Issannative, your statement that I critisize the Chinese is only 50% right , if you look in my post,s earlier I plainly said that 90% of the medium to large business,s in my area are Ethnic Chinese owned,thus contributing to the local economy and creating much needed employment , however its my opinion and many others that anyone coming into the area to either set up a business or buy a 2 rai plot of land to build a house for his Thai wife and family this should be looked on favourably instead of having the door slammed firmly in your face by the ethnic Chinese who actually run the country , competition always in the end benefits the consumer, but it is the stranglehold monopoly that the Chinese have that is holding this country back , what i,m saying is Thai,s are not forbidden to start business,s up or own land elsewhere with great success and for there host country's benefit too with taxes etc, so my simple question is just why would it not work equally well here?

I think the people who run this country is doing a great service to most of us here and we should be thankful. By the way, this country is run by Thai people. Thai Chinese is not chinese anymore for their mentality is pure Thai. I will try to elaborate in a separate post.

Anyway, by making sure that the poor remain poor, we get a cheap standard of living. We can have our Hein*ken for less than THB 40 per can. We can have our Marlb*ro for less than THB 80.

We can have maids!!! An alien concept in most developed countries, except Singapore where they like to sear them with hot iron and water and kick the living daylight out of Indo and Pinoy maids.

So perhaps there is a good reason to introduce draconian laws to ensure a good and cheap living in Thailand for the benefit of everyone, foreigners included.

Thais are among the fastest-growing Asian American population in the United States, increasing by 64.6 percent over the last decade. It would be a shame to not allow thais to be able to own land, a home or put restriction on them owning a business here. Good thing we don't think like isaanNative here.

Those laws only apply to land that is considered to be in the interest of national security. I.E. Ports, Airports or any land near a secure facility like a military base. We have plenty of foreign Industrial Equipment companies here. We also have foreign aircraft parts factories (Airbus), Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, the list goes on. So, I think your facts are a bit misplaced

Well this thread is all over the place both in topic and in location and now in time. However, thanks. Finally a post that proves everything didn't start with the Chinese. Further, that means that there are no native people - Only people who lived in an area at some artificial past point in time. So let's pick, say 2009, those who live in a location at this point in time.

Now (also) - the question was asked earlier but never answered-, who was living in this area before the Chinese takeover (and in Singapore)?
