lets solve social issues of thailand
Re: lets solve social issues of thailand
You know something I don't know.
Let us talk about what we think we "know"!(without retribution)
Ultimately, we would come to some form of agreement of the "knows" and "don't knows"
Path to the future?
Hey PT, I am not Thai by blood nor bearth, but I would fight to the death for my Thai family and friends (also Thai). Please be careful what you say!

Re: lets solve social issues of thailand
We have to learn to live in diversity like US or AUS. Thai people love to say Thailand is the land of Buddhism which I think it means we pay no respect to other believes. As the result, we turn southern Thailand in to the war field which starts as the hated crime.
For ourselves, we have to be less nationalism which is totally different direction from this government idea. We cannot stand against world economic alone but it could be better if we stay together with other South East Asia Countries. Currently, we just try to hate everyone and being Negative Nancy about free trade stuff. The idea of close ourselves coz of laziness to do anything instead of challenging the other countries in free trade stuff looks very lizarded to me.
Education is a very major problem that is very hard to tackle. Teaching children to pay significant respect to teacher can be good but it limits ability to child to challenge. Some class especially Thai history is very wrong to deliver. It just promotes the idea of nationalism alone without realizing that the winner is the writer of the history. No significant comparison between other nations’ history to assess the truth.
The way to deliver these things cannot be done by the current available resources in Thai politic. We need a channel for younger generation (World Wide Web Generation as my definition) to have more control over those old people who which Thailand to be something like 20 years ago. However, it cannot be that way coz the change in World Economic, increasing population number, and depleted resources.
For conclusion, we need real Change in our attitude. However, in order to do so, we might need a very major disaster or destruction incident to destroy most of the thing before we can build something with a good foundation.
PS I think I can write 100 pages about this stuff. This is something that I just come up within limited time.

I hope common sense will prevail and people learn to accept differences, rather than try to change other peoples beliefs. We all can learn from each other. (nobody knows everything)
I sincerely hope it will not take a dissaster to change peoples' views. (It hasn't worked in the past) As you say, education is the key.
I am pleased you didn't go for the 100 page option.

im sorry but thais today are very open minded and less xenophobia than their previous generations. The new generation are more willing to experience something new and take in other cultures. Take a look around Siam Square at those blonde haired, big eyed, mini skirted teeny bopper dancing to the latest American hip hop tune via their latest iPod. And not just American MTV culture, the latest import are Korean waves whose dance steps can be both confusing and amusing at the same time. Rain is not "nam fon" and Super Junior is not a football team but a bunch of "narak" teenage boy band. Heck, these teenagers now changes gik more often than you change your toothbrush.
It's those older generations who couldn't catch up and understand the new things that hold the country back. nothing sinister or conspiracy, it's just fear of the unknown that makes them feel insecure and hence, holding back the entire country is the best way forward. Once "that" few individuals are no longer here then the country can move forward.
