UK seize Thaksin $4.2 billion-true or false?

In Old British English million means billion and billion means million. (something that still confuses us day traders) Seems to make more sense if Thaksin doesn't comment on it or attempt to claim it. But there is MUCH MORE Truth to all this story.
WHERE IS THAKSIN NOW?? will continue to be the headlines for some time to come. (He did call in to a Khon Kaen rally but whereabouts undisclosed)
In old British English 1 billion meant 1 million million ... it then changed to the American of 1 thousand million. At no time, that I am aware, did a million mean a 'billion' in English. As an Engineer, I prefer the Greek prefixes giga and tera to refer to the numbers...no confusion with these!

http://alt-usage-english.org/excerpts/fxbill00.html Yeah...and billion means trillion.
The jury is still out on this story, but leaning towards true.
Thaksin existing in two universes it appears, one where he's loved...and one where he's a fugitive on the run.
Both seem to be true.

The link just serves to prove my comment!
1000,000,0000 = 1 US billion = giga = 10E9
1000,000,000,000 = 1 UK traditional billion = tera = 10E12
I have never seen and this link did not show 1 UK million as a US billion
Am I missing something here ?

Anyone trying to listen or talk to Brits is confused. Me, I don't understand British or Ozzy english well. I may have had the million/billion part wrong since old british lists billion/trillion as different. But when I first read about UK seizing Thaksin money, I remember something about $4.2million. Then many articles started coming out stating $4.2 billion. Confusing?yes

UK story still pending. The jury is still out but leaning to true... more reveling information in link above.
Also...Thaksin had until Jan. 20th to file defense in his $2.2B Thai assets seizure or forfeit.
Any news? Is he still willing to fight? Or only pay 30 redshirts and a few bloggers to protest nowadays.?
I read the article you quote and it seems to be written by someone with the level of intelligence and understanding of a 9th grader. There is absolutely no revealing information in the article you quote at all. The article provides no information at all.
Firstly, the article still talks about asset seizure rumours. In Thailand there may well be rumours about what the Thai Government is up to. In the UK it takes just one member of Parliament to stand up and ask a question to the relevant minister, and the minister is duty bound to supply an answer. Now you go ahead and guess why no member of Parliament has questioned whether the UK Government has seized billions of dollars from an individual. My guess is that the UK Government has done no such thing. The only reason why the UK would seize money from an individual would be if they had evidence that this money was involved in criminal activity. Since there have been no court cases in Thailand brought against Taxsin relating to his assets held in the UK (the land case did not involve his UK held assets) then the Thai Government would be very hard pressed to prove to the British Government that his UK assests were involved in criminal activity.
Secondly, the Nation author wonders why the robust British press, reknown for their investigative powers, has not investigated the purchase of Manchester City Football Club. Why would they? No one has ever suggested that the purchase and later sales of Manchester City was anything other than a regular, normal financial transaction. Does the author suggestion that the British press are somehow tied up in some international conspiracy to protect Taxsin? The idea is laughable. So is the idea that these transactions were somehow too complicated and the trails too long to follow that the Western media couldn't be bothered to unravel them. OK, so now the author is implicating the whole of the Western Media in this conspiracy of silence - the stakes have now been upped in the mind of the Nation journalist. Perhaps the caffeine started to kick in, who knows?
Finally, the author of this piece of rubbish declares that Taxsin never reported overseas assets. He or she should be careful. There is another family in the Kingdom that has several billions of dollars worth of assets stashed away in overseas banks around the world. The further the Nation newspaper and other supporters of the PAD movement invent garbage about individual Thai citizens in their attempt to bring about their feudalistic, undemocratic aims, the more they put the spotlight on the very people they claim to support, thus driving a disharmonious wedge between all levels of Thai society.

What's clear is no one in the UK has confirmed or denied these reports. It's also strange the Thaksin in hiding out mostly these days. Some say down to his last $500M. Results being only 30 protesters showing up at times, political party and support in disarray."NO MONEY, NO HONEY" as they say in Thai. True or not, results are obvious and speaks volumes
