Red Bull heir indictment delayed again

The public prosecutor on Wednesday postponed for the fourth time the indictment of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, who is accused of killing a police officer in a hit-and-run accident last year.

Ruecha Krairiksh, executive director of Office of Criminal Litigation of Southern Bangkok 1, who is the lead prosecutor in the case, said the adjournment was needed because the investigation report was still not complete.

Prosecutors earlier decided not to arraign Mr Vorayuth for drink-driving and are still awaiting a response to their recommendation from the police.

The attorney-general also instructed that further investigations be made after the suspect asked for justice and to be allowed to call four more witnesses to testify in the case.

Mr Vorayuth also asked that experts review their conclusions on the speed that his Ferrari was travelling at when it rear-ended Pol Snr Sgt-Maj Wichian Klanprasert's motorcycle in the early hours of Sept 3, 2012 on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok.

Prosecutors have already charged Mr Vorayuth with three offences - exceeding the speed limit, reckless driving causing death and damage to state property, and hit-and-run.

Mr Ruecha said the speeding case would expire in September. Prosecutors would ask police to hurry up and conclude their additional investigations to ensure Mr Vorayuth will be formally indicted on all three charges, he said.

He insisted that there was no attempt by authorities to drag out legal proceedings against the wealthy Red Bull heir.

According to the Associated Press the lad tested positive for Cocaine, although they reported it’s not clear if he ingested it before the Sept. 3 crash.

They also mention the Red Bull family paid the cops family ninety-seven thousand US dollars to forestall a civil lawsuit.

Indictment of Red Bull heir looms

Published: 23 Aug 2013

The public prosecutor will decide on Monday whether to indict Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, who allegedly killed a police officer in a hit-and-run last year.

The prosecutor has already postponed the decision four times.

The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth is due to expire on Sept 3.

Ruecha Krairiksh, lead prosecutor in the case, said the indictment was postponed repeatedly because the suspect had complained to police that the Attorney-General's Office should interview four more eye-witnesses to ensure fairness.

However, Thong Lor police had yet to submit any additional information regarding the suspect's petition to prosecutors, Mr Ruecha said.

Mr Vorayuth, grandson of Red Bull energy drink founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, allegedly rammed his Ferrari into Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert's motorcycle on Sukhumvit Soi 47 in the early hours of Sept 3 last year.

The policeman's body was dragged about 200 metres along the road.
Mr Vorayuth allegedly fled the scene and was arrested several hours later at his home on Sukhumvit Soi 53.

Red Bull heir's indictment DELAYED AGAIN

26 Aug 2013 at 15.26

Public prosecutors on Monday postponed for the fifth time the indictment of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, whose Ferrari hit and killed a police officer on a motorcycle last year, explaining that the suspect was unwell and the investigation incomplete.

Ruecha Krairiksh, lead prosecutor in the case, said the indictment was postponed repeatedly because the suspect had appealed to Attorney-General Chulasingh Vasantasingh against a speeding charge, asking for more time to question four more eyewitnesses and two more accident reconstruction experts to ensure fairness.

Mr Chulasingh agreed to Mr Vorayuth’s request. However, Thong Lor police had yet to submit any additional information regarding the suspect's petition to prosecutors, Mr Ruecha said.

Mr Vorayuth's lawyers also lodged a request with prosecutors asking for an adjournment of his client’s indictment to Sept 2 at 10am, saying he was sick. He submitted Mr Vorayuth’s medical certificate along with his request.

The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth expires on Sept 3.

Attorney-General Chulasingh Vasantasingh has ordered the prosecution of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya on three counts, including speeding, for the hit-and-run accident that killed a policeman.

The suspect, according to his lawyer, is now on an overseas trip that started on Thursday.

Chulasingh recently issued the order to public prosecutors at the Department of Southern Bangkok Criminal Litigation because the statute of limitations related to the speeding will expire on Tuesday. The department has postponed the prosecution five times already, claiming it needed additional investigation reports regarding the alleged speeding - which Vorayuth has denied.

Reuchai Krairerk, a senior expert public prosecutor at the department, said yesterday that Chulasingh ordered prosecution on three counts to take place first to avoid any damage stemming from the statute of limitations expiring on the speeding charge.

"We have thus asked police to bring Vorayuth to Bangkok South Criminal Court on September 2 for the prosecution," Reuchai said.

He said that if Vorayuth failed to show up at the court on that day, prosecutors would seek an arrest warrant for him and have him prosecuted on two other counts.

Reuchai said the two other counts were more serious - reckless driving causing death and failure to stop the vehicle and get out to help the victim.

He said Vorayuth's lawyer insisted that the suspect would return to meet with public prosecutors on Monday. The Nation

well , we all could guess the outcome , didn't we?

being recovered he could travel to Singapore ???? Justice did not take his passport ???? and .............

the poor heir of RedBull, fell sick again(maybe forgotten to take the daily RedBull drug) and with a real or fake medical certificate from an almost graduated Singapore doctor, tries to make any impression on the Thai judges. I guess the med. certificate was in an envelope exceptionally thick for just a certificate.

BUT......... soon there will be the F1 Singapore car races and I think that we will all see that the good treatment of the Singapore doctor or more the Sing. nurses have helped to get the killer heir of RedBull on his feet again.

And I bet, you will be able to see him sitting in the VIP box of REDBULL in the Singapore F1 car races.

Would that be a shameful sight for the Thai justice system that failed to prevent him leaving Thailand and then failed to pull him back into Thailand rather than enjoying himself in the REDBULL vip box.????

If this happens it is a SHAME for REDBULL racing as well, as they apparently are shielding their heir, that is accused of killing a police man while driving under influence of drinks and drugs from justice. REDBULL should be wiser and should help justice take its course and bring this young piece of s....... back to justice system in Thailand.
