Yeah, I can be derailed on occasion, sorry about that.
It's the suggested discontinuity of uniform beliefs that confusses me.

I have always worn uniforms, whether it be school, gang, or military.
As such, uniforms are important as a means of showing togetherness and conformity.
Red herrings are easilly detected and as such are easy to avoid, should that be required or necessary.
Has one ever heard the phrase "put a sock in it" ?
Not being offensive, I love your rhetoric, just asking?

Sweetpea has already pointed out that school uniforms are a great leveler in that the richer kids are not allowed to wear their designer gear to school. I find that the children enjoy wearing the uniform and many are very proud of their school , and are happy to show it. I think a group of kids in uniform look good and wherever you are in the world you will find the older girls rolling up their waistbands to make their skirts shorter . As long as they don,t overdo it where,s the harm. - gordon.

I am, since sveral years now, in China and recently my boys (both are Thai so is my wife) came over to China because of the political turmoil in Thailand. We enroled them in a International school and they had to pass an entry test. The test results where shocking. The big one (10 year old) was a good student in Thailand with extra lessons in english paid to his school in Bangkok (sai nam tip). His test results at QSI international school where as following:

English test = International pre school level
Math = 2nd grade elementary scholl
Geography = not existing (He knew that Thailand is sooooooooooo big and the rest of the world might be somewhere)
The smaller boy (8 years old) had even worst results.

Now my question is whether they should bring their school uniforms from Thailand or not?
The next question would be, why do I not need to pay tea money for the school anymore?
And last but not least, why dont the boys spit on their new teachers because they dont use the school uniform but rather speek highly about them with the utmost respect? :?:

Er,,,, based on the previous "post", it would appear that some need further education to enable thoughts to be expressed in an understandable manner to others?
The topic is about school uniforms, not uniformity or teachers salary, as such I think school uniforms help the students learn about togetherness and a sense of belonging.
