The rich and the poor
Re: The rich and the poor
Besides Corruption, what else ails Thailand that needs fixing?
A, Well, She won't stand a chance without freedom of speech and I don't mean wildness of speech. In a great Democracy honourable citizens disagree, honourably. [Yes I know Thaksin did not allow it, either.]
B, Apathy, culture of inurement acceptance The vast majority of Thais are not red shirts and they are not yellow shirts. They stand on the sides and sit on their hands waiting to join the side that wins.
C, a real convoluted, twisted system of Democracy that was born and stolen from the West; one that does NOT fit with Thailand's History and Societal Milieu. Much of Thailand's problems can be traced back to Khana Ratsadon's broken program. They were squabbling among themselves before the 1932 Coup. There was the Marxist loving communists of Pridi and the Mussolini worshipping fascists of Plaek.
D, Class Distinction can be broken into 3.
1. financial, but ending Corruption would spread wealth acceptably. [I am NOT an Ayn Rand 'objectivism' "Atlas Shrugged"; but there has to be leaders, stars and heroes.
2. Gender, Thailand is so 1950's on that...
3. AND Regional /Ethnic ---- STOP with the whitening cream! Brown is Beautiful!
Did I miss Anything????
Edit; oh I forgot to say. I have noticed more and more in Forums and Articles that the Reds are now being called Northerners. Do I have to explain how badly this nomencalture portends for the future? in more ways than 1.

Re: The rich and the poor
The reins of control are in hands of yellow and red mobsters and, recently, red and yellow Newin has come hopping down the bunny trail. he is drafting Sondhi and Thaksin.
What I have suggested in Emails to Editors, other Forums and Emails to concerned Thais, to battle the road block against free speech is to use a freedom of religion defense and a persecution offense.
If a Citizen is speaking the truth as they know it, with the good intentions of improving the conditions for the people of Thailand then, surely, they are practising their religious instruction. I know I am. Somebody should Defend their rights of peaceful and honourable dialogue! not wild talk and shutting down airports and burning businesses.
The 'right to assemble and protest' should not impinge on anyone's freedoms to do business and movement. Anything that can make The Kingdom of Thailand stable, peaceful, prosperous; with greatly reduced corruption should be sanctioned, not thumb screwed.

Yours is just Just a common sense analysis of the whole situation KJ , sadly it would appear to be in short supply here in ThailandKhunJoseph wrote:Well, because of Point A., above it can't really happen. I visited Uni profs and a KPI agent in December/Jan, warning them of the size of the red riots that were coming and 'giving' a way out. They even suggested I go to the Media, but that did not get very far.
