‘I believe that with great wealth comes great responsibility, a responsibility to give back to society, a responsibility to see that those resources are put to work in the best possible way to help those most in need. Many years ago, I made it clear that almost all of my wealth would be returned to society through a Foundation.’ Microsoft co- founder Bill Gates.

Warren Buffett is another one who will give most of his wealth away. His children will not inherit a significant proportion of his wealth.

And what about you Thaksin ?

Does the word 'philanthropy' even exist in the Thai language? Has their ever been a rich Thai who "gave away MOST of Their wealth?"
What a funny notion to paint a blurry picture of Thaksin as a possible philanthropist, just as it would be to imagine the same for Sondhi or any number of Elites, who garnered wealth via corruption; to give any more than dribbles of their assets for charity.
[Good on anybody who can give away "MOST" of their money and still own private jets and estates on a few continents.]
IF 'charity' is a salient question for Thaksin, then it, surely, should be asked of others, as well.
I view charity by rich Thais to be way, way down on the "To Do List" for solving The Kingdom of Thailand's problems.
*Freedom, NOT wildness, of speech; *Apathy of the masses; *endemic Corruption by Officials, *Globalisation without Participation and *a Western borrowed, twisted political structure would have to be engendered before entertaining grandiose notions of largess by the Thai Upper Crust. [Class division is NOT the biggest problem.]
