Thailand's leading English language newspapers

In Thailand , there are many local newspapers published in English . In southern Thailand , foreigners can access The Phuket Gazette newspaper . This newspaper is a tabloid and published weekly . It is managed by a foreigner . Any stories and columns are mostly written by the foreigners. Some editorials are shared with The Nation’s editorials . Thai reporters who work in The Phuket Gazette are mostly local residents .

In Pattaya , you can read The Pattay Mail which is in associated with The Chiang Mai Mail. These two tabloid newspapers are similar to The Bangkok Post based in Bangkok. The Pattaya Mail’s editor is the foreigner and most reporters are foreigners too . Thai officers are few . In fact , The Pattaya Mail and The Chiang Mai Mail are the same forms . Their front pages look similar and will be emphasized on Pattaya and Chiang Mai ’s foreigners.

Most stories and columns published in The Pattaya Mail and Chiang Mai Mail are local events , properties and sports activities.

The Phuket Gazette’s main stories are about Phuket’s tourism and local news .

In Bangkok , there are two prestigious English-language newspapers ; namely, The Bangkok Post and The Nation. Both newspapers are daily published . The Bangkok Post is managed by the foreign editor but The Nation is managed by Thai editors .

To me, I love The Nation more because it is published for Thais more than the foreigners. The Nation’s southern violence page is good to read .

The foreigners need not to worry about Thai visas or restaurants . They can read The Nation or The Bangkok Post’s special stories provided for only Farangs ( foreigners ) who live in Thailand already.

Comparing The Nation to The Bangkok Post , The Nation is more nationalism and The Bangkok Post is more international . In terms of the stories , they are the same.

I do believe that if the foreigners want to live in Thailand for a long time , Thailand’s Bangkok Post and The Nation are the best English-language sources for reaching wide ranges of news and information very well.

Beyond the broadsheet English-language publications, one can find a diverse variety electronically that counter the predictable sources of information, news, and commentary.

The Bangkok Post is the most biased publication I have read. It makes Fox News look almost impartial. The childish obsession with Thaksin makes it the laughing stock in our community. As for the landslide victory of Yingluck well; the letters page is full of such right-wing vitriol that one could be excused for thinking that she stole the election. Shame that pesky Democracy got in the way eh?
The blame for the terrible floods was all but laid at her door. Oh how the bar-stool bigots enjoyed writing to the pliant BP pointing out that she couldn't turn back the water. Erm....how can it be pointed out to these guys that Abhisit was Prime Minister until August, prior to this, Ayyuthaya, Sukhothai and other cities north of Bangkok were under water. As early as February the predictions were that the monsoons were to be particularly heavy that year. Three dams were full to bursting. Experts advised that to let the water out gradually before the rains came would alleviate any such problems further downstream. Needless to say the Democrat government didn't act. All this happened on the hapless Abhisit's watch but lack of space must have prevented BP from reporting it as such.

It's true that the Post dwarfs the other alternatives across Thailand. But at least they have rather solid design and writing and branding, unlike the other ones I've seen that are ran by a bunch of old hoodlums with no spellcheck software.

We should all know in the modern age with corporate news companies that they all take slants on issues. At the end of the day at least they are a news source and aren't straight up censoring 90% of news ... maybe %30 but still ... lol
