The Wild Dogs of Thailand

When will the government do something about the dog packs which roam the streets in many of Thailands cities? They are a very big threat to children and adults alike. How many people have been bitten and attacked by these dogs? is there any data? How many people attend the A&E departments in Thailand due to dog bites? These dog packs are formed by people who buy dogs and then do not want them, or can not takecare of them, some even too vicious to keep. They are also formed by the dog packs breading aswell.
Many homes have dogs in them which are very vicious also, and are let out during the day so that when children or adults walk or are on bikes etc, past they are attacked by these dogs. This should not be acceptable not in this day and age. The owners of said dogs should be prosecuted should they attack and harm a person, and the animal put down. How many people have walked past a house/building and have had dogs chase after them? snarling teeth bared ready to bite.
A dog does not have to be this way, but it seems that many owners like them this way. A dog is a very dangerous animal and will even attack the owner aswell.
A dog should be a pet and trained to behave not be just a vicious animal. If a dog is trained properly then it will naturaly protect where it lives and the owner also, it will not attack anyone walking past or threaten anyone also. The fouling of areas also by dog excrement is a very real health hazard aswell.
I do belive that the government should realy be doing something about this situation, maybe even bring in a dog licience so that no one can own a dog without a licience.

It would seem that from recent TV reporting that there are some who also want to reduce the number of stray dogs. Dogs are being caught and shipped to Vietnam in time for Chinese New Year next week.

no one denies that every thai has the right to own a pet, whether it be a dog, cat or whatever......... it is a fact here in my village that people who have dogs as 'pets' never look after them or feed them! the consequence is these dogs roam around in packs looking for something to eat. they are a danger to little children and on one occasion i saw a dog snatch some food from the hands of a three year old child! apart from this they are a nuisance with their constant barking which doesnt seem to upset a lot of people. i realise that this is one big problem but the sooner it is dealt with the better.
