thats the AUD sean as you know it is pegged to commodity prices as australia is a large exporter of commodities so in times of economic downturn commodity prices drop so does the AUD making it even cheaper to buy commodities from Aus which is one of the reasons Australia is doing so well ( in comparison) at the moment. Maybe thailand should take a lesson from Aus

Whatever twist you want to put on it, them's the facts Jack. Nobody to blame but yourself if you can't come up with your own export commodities, is there? I hope your economies get well soon and maybe you could take a lesson from Thailand in monetary policy, particularly the difference between artiificial devaluation and capitalism.

Thats the point I'm making Sean, our economies will improve soon but the thais will be digging themselves out of this mess for years to come.News reports mention that Aus is teetering on the edge of recession most countries of the world have been in deep recession for months we definetly do not need to take a lesson from an undeveloping nation like thailand. By the way do you make your living in thailand or a pension from Aus just wondering about your reference to "your" economies and not "ours". :?:

Because you are trying to avoid the facts by making reference to the success of the Australian economy and yet you haven't supplied the data for even the years 1996 (pre-crisis) and 2009 for the particular currency that you're whining about. Which one is it? Note that the ^ suffix means gain MORE baht for your dollar, and the v means LESS:

once again you miss my point sean if you read my posts i havn't complained about getting less baht for my money, I dabble in the forex market and fully understand sometimes you win and sometimes you lose .last year i transferred money from home to by a 4wd on the day my money arrived the rate was 33. something cant quite remember, anyway i got a dirt cheap 4wd good for me, at the moment the the rate is about 25.8 which isnt so bad ,my point the baht is to strong against other more important currencies and is damaging there economy .Massive foreign loans they are getting at the moment will have to be payed back when the baht devalues which is inevitable. dont bother with the exchange rate information i constantly track exchange rates and their history.

I take it then by your failure to mention your currency of choice in the list from 1996 that you are either a child of some new currency or else perhaps you get your OAP from the local embassy for the planet Mars?

Should I go back and dig up the statistics for Bolivia? Is that where you get paid from?

"AUD Australia Dollars 0.0387185504 25.8274131776" quote from your post
"the current rate is 25.8" quote from my last post not to hard for a smart bloke like you to work out which currency i use,
if you really want to know though i get paid in USD which is deposited in to Aus account and obviously converted into AUD.

PD i just can't help myself

In these volatile times Monday morning is always exciting. What will the exchange rate be, how has it changed since Friday

Thank you for that. It was quite a fun guessing game for a while though.

USD United States Dollars 0.0396184886 25.2407407407
USD United States Dollars 0.0283652384 35.2544189874^

Either way you look at it, you're still getting far more baht for your dollar than you were before the currency crisis so I really have to think hard to try to understand what all these "poor-me" sufferers are complaining about. Maybe it's some sort of Alzheimer's derivative, that means if you can't remember the start then you might not have much of a clue about the ending until after the show is over?

If I remember how poor Chalore never got to finish her Masters' back in 1998 it can be cause for some tears, but it's all starting to get back towards normal again now, at long last, so there's no need to get frustrated about it. Happy days are almost here again!
