Thai women are NOT "the same as anywhere around the world", because Thailand has anti-foreigner laws which many other countries in the world do not have.

Hey, you better register your marriage in Thailand and not in your own country. Thai common law is impartial to both men and women. Unlike US and most western countries' laws, they tended to be on the side of the women even when she is a drug addict and etc.. The best for children do not count most of the times. Thai law does lack enforcement.

A dowery is usually give back to the bride as a wedding gift for her to start her new life. It uausally gives the bride's parents a guarantee that the bride will have money when she needed. Since in Thai system, parents always support their children. Getting married to Farang scare them quite a bit.

thai girlfriend

Postby Mr. Farang on Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:58 am

Hi, I'm dating a thai girl now on a temp visa (she has to leave in april) she wants me to marry her. I'm in love with her, but still skeptical and dont feel like i want to get married at this point (we've only been dating a month!) I was worried she just wanted to marry me to stay in the us with me. Her assurance is that there are plenty of men she could marry if she just wanted a greencard. alsom, this post is the first i've heard of this dowry is this something that is legaly binding to a us citizen? any thoughts in general would be apprecited. I'm having a hard time...

My advise is that you need to allow her to return back to Thailand. It is better for you to marry her in Thailand for variety of reasons. At this attitude, I do not think that she is being honest with you...beside being loose as a goose.

We've been living together for about a month and I feel like I can trust her now. We still have a few months before she leaves so I have some time to decide about the marriage issue. What do you mean by loose as a goose? What would be the benefit of me marrying her in Thailand?
