Erica - my naive X-in-the-woods.
Male-dominated chauvinism ?
Have you ever lived in a matrilineal society - eg. Sumatra's Minankabau ?
I have.
Seems its perfectly OK there for the woman to go manising - i.e. the female equivalent of "womanising".
Believe it or not - the world is unlikely to be remade in your American evangelical feminist image.

Ian,
“Erica - my naive X-in-the-woods.”

Do yourself a favor and refrain from this. It’s doing you a disservice.

”Male-dominated chauvinism ?”

Read again. I said male dominated social make up. What do you think is the difference between the two?

“Have you ever lived in a matrilineal society - eg. Sumatra's Minankabau ? I have. Seems its perfectly OK there for the woman to go manising - i.e. the female equivalent of "womanising".”

No, I have not. And if the women there are running around “manising” as you’ve stated, what makes you think it is ok in my opinion when I’ve clearly stated I have the same thing against both? By the way, I was answering your question when I made that statement. Did you forget of missed it? That’s ok. It’s still printed in this thread and quite hard to miss.

My American evangelical feminist image?? News to me…

Sorry to have so obviously got under your skin.
"Chauvinism" or "male-dominated social make-up". You tell me the difference : you're the expert !

Ian,
Don't apologize for what you intended to do.

Aren't you a little old for any one to be telling you the difference between the two statements? But come to think of it, aren't you the one asking about how to go about marrying your girl after having met her on a holiday over a year ago and corresponded by phone only and without knowing if she is doing the same with some other sap? Your rights, of course..

If you wish to continue insisting on displaying a bruised ego, I really do not have any desire nor the time to entertain you.

AD,
Thanks for the warning.

There can be 10 Ians posting in this forum and it doesn't change the merit of my statement "dont' apologize for what you intended to do" or someone "insisting on displaying a bruised ego"..
