Why do most farangs search for their wife from Pattaya?

The best thing is not to look:
You can go to Pattaya. Patpong, Patong and find oceans of beautiful girls, who are readily avaliable for marriage, but they would possibly be marrying your wallet, not your love; I met my wife by pure chance, i was already in a relationship with a Thai girl, who was only interested in my money, i got talking to my wife and stayed in contact and very quickly dumped the other girl, spent 2 years as girlfriend/boyfriend and eventually married her and been happy ever since, the fact we spent a lot of time and worked hard on learning alot about each other helped. I will not slag off the girls in bars, but all i will say is take your time and never rush in.

JUST A QUICK REPLY TO NICE LADY . NOT ALL PEOPLE COME TO PATTAYA SEEKING A WIFE. I KNEW LITTLE ABOUT THAILAND AND CAME HERE ON A TIME-SHARE EXCHANGE , I CAME TO AN AREA BETWEEN JONTIEM AND PATTAYA . PATTAYA WAS AN EYE OPENER FOR ME , I HAD NEVER COME ACROSS ANYTHING REMOTELY SIMILAR . In Pattaya a guy doesn't look for a wife - the wife finds the guy but he's probably too skunked to know it.
I really like the idea of looking in a bookshop for a wife.....yeah I just imagine the scenario 8 hour stints in Bookazine or Asia Books.....loads of wives to be had....get real please!
We know most guys meet their wives in bars, but it's funny whenever this topic comes up everyone met their wife in a bookshop or at university lol.

A park is a good place to meet people, lots of open space, lots of nice ladies out for a stroll - sounds logical.
But a bookshop??!! Next they'll be telling us to hang out in 7/11's to meet prospective wives or ride the bus all day long. I didn't meet my wife either in a bar or in Pattaya (yeah yeah I hear you all scream), but if I did and I loved her I would say so. God it must be hard being married and feel you have to make up porkies about where you met your wife....and besides, you may fool the foreigner but a Thai will certainly know where you met!

I have not visited this thread for a long time, and was surprised to see so few posts .You lads are having a laugh, the point I was making is that you can meet a bad or a nice girl anywhere , yes even 7/11 or a bookshop. It doesn't mean hanging around like a dirty old man. Just being there at the right time and seeing somone you would like to know better, and taking a chance. O.K. the lady may ignore you or you may talk a little . I met my wife in Tesco , boring I know , the second time I saw her there we arranged to meet for a coffee .
