... about dogs and tones and girlfriends and vocal errors in pronunciation ...
So there I was at my favourite restaurant in Nonthaburi, Muno's, waiting for my girlfriend to arrive, and I knew the waiter well enough for those last few weeks since he started there, and he was concerned that I had not ordered a meal after 30 minutes of sitting there, peering over the balcony and drinking Singha, and all I managed to say was "Pooying maa cha-cha" which can mean many things depending on the way it is voiced.
I got the impression by the way he frowned and then smiled that while trying to explain to him that I was waiting to order until my girlfriend arrived, (and that she was 15 minutes late), that I'd just told him that women are slow dogs.
I think that must be why he almost laughed, but I don't know if he was thinking of his own girlfriend at that moment.

Since you mentioned, in what country a girlfriend is refer to as a horse in slang? I know in English, words such as chick, cow, broad, etc... are used as slangs to refer to a female gender, depend on which country one is in. But I don't recall if Thai language has slang for anything during my time there which was a long time ago. Perhaps there is now, if you know?
