Phuket Music Festival

Legendary, harmonica extraordinaire Charlie Musselwhite is appearing in Phuket for one of the island's biggest annual events.

On February 26th and 27th, 2010 the Phuket International Blues Rock Festival takes place at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia near Karon Beach.

A total of 12 acts have been confirmed with Musselwhite and his band joined by groups such as Australian singer-songwriter Richard Clapton and US bluesman Rich Harper. Musselwhite was said to be the inspiration for Dan Aykroyd's character Elwood Blues in the hit movie, The Blues Brothers.

Other performers include Latin music maestro, Andy Gonzales and the Prodigal Sons, a blues rock group from Norway.

The festival is a charity event with this year’s proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Phuket and an English-language learning programme for local children, Phuket Has Been Good To Us. More information from: http://www.phuketbluesfestival.com.
