new visa rules for foreigners

RE: New Visa Rules

What kind of advantage do we foreigners take of Thailand ? I'm confused, as far as I'm concerned, every foreign individual is spending his/her money here, which is only GOOD for your economy. I never got 1 baht from Thai people or their government and I'm not asking for one either so please leave us alone and let us spend our money here before we change our minds and go to spend our money somewhere else. Thai people should know that we foreigners choose to stay here because we like the country, the people and their culture and not to take advantage of anything.

It is so easy now to apply for visa on arrival at the new airport. Why should there be so much trouble to visit your Thai Consulate/Embassy in your countries before taking a trip to Thailand if you wish to stay longer and doing legitimate businesses?

All farang here, I regard they are good people and good people can obtain long term visa and work permit or permanent residence certificate like me.

However there are hundred thousands of farang, unemployeed, undocumented, overdue visa, runner from own country criminal, drug mules, pedophiles, bank account scam, drug addicts, international mafia, terrorists, illegal language teachers, prostitutes, marriage fraud and destroying Thai family and endless crimes.

Now this is the grave social, family problem in Thailand.
Thailand must clean up all this overdue matter and stand own social value intact.

I have been a semi-permanent resident in Thailand for several years, and from my observations, the vast majority of the expats with lower budgets living in Thailand are fairly law-abiding (with a healthy fear of the Thai "justice" system), consume local Thai food and products and generally bring more (economicaly) to their local communities than the rich expats, who often live in gated mansions, and mostly mix only with other rich expats in Farang establishments, while maintaining an arrogant disdain for the locals... There is a strange phenomena in Thailand and around Asia that assumes that "rich is good" despite the performance of characters like Thaksin (!!!). Probably because past live's behaviour has something to do with the concept. In fact, most of the foreign organised crime in Thailand is surely run by people who will laugh and adapt to the new visa rules as a matter of course, because organised crime involves large amounts of money. The only people I can see suffering now from the departure of Farangs are Thais who run popular restaurants and other businesses frequented by many foreigners ! As usual, a law based more on fantasy or wishful thinking than reality. Do you seriously think that ONE person in Thailand for criminal reasons has left ???

I agree with you. Tourist visa for tourism and Non-B visa for working.

I think that the biggest mistake that my country Switzerland has done is to exempt the obligation of visa for Brasilian tourists. As they can stay here for a maximum of 90 days, we are now invaded by so called Brasilian tourists girls who are naturally working illegaly here as prostitutes. Of course, it is "good" for them because some can make CHF 15000 (THB 450000) per month bringing back home when leaving. Unfortunately, corruption and mafia are coming with and luring in the dark for them.

Could you imagine what will happen if we let Khon Thai coming here for tourism without obligation of visa?

I think every country makes immigration harder because there are so many abusing people bypassing laws. For instance, Thai students wanting to study here cannot receive anymore student visa if they do not speak one of our Swiss national languages (German or French or Italian).

We even force foreigners to learn one the above language if they want to renew their annual resident permit (EU citizens are not exempted). The keyword is here INTEGRATION, because we are overcrowded by foreigners (23%).

So Rooster , when will Thailand force foreigners to learn Thai if they want to stay there?

hi watcher ,don,t you honestly think that the thai,s should put there own house in order first ,instead of blameing the farangs for all its social ills ,take the beaches on samui ,i,ve seen a huge family of thais come down for a picnic over the weekend and leave ALL there rubbish and waste food behind ,not once but dozens of times ,leaving a once pristine beach like a garbish dump ,of course the lady who owned the bungalows nearby blamed it all on the tourists ,she used to spend hours cleaning the beach instead of telling the thai,s to take ther rubbish with them ,regards ,colin .
