I would use pepper spray,or some form of mace repellent.but that is only temporary.seems you need a more permanent solution... ;)

I like an idea of firecrakers. If you don't have them on hand, then can try a roll of a newspaper. Most dogs hate the sound of it.

There is a dog near were I live that barks and snarls at people as they pass by the house were it lives, the owners of the dog are not interested if people complain, two days ago a man and a small child walked past the shop the dog barked and snarled at them the child was very frightened I said to a Thai guy I was with something needs to be done about that dog. that day my friend told me the man had came back to the house with two other people as the dog slept he hit the dog with a stick and threatened the owner, I do not know what was said but iv'e never seen the dog since.
