Illegal fishing boats

Illegal fishing boats

Postby Aussie Dave on Wed Jan 04, 2006 4:29 am

I read in today's Bangkok Post (4th Jan) that Indonesian authorities are very indignant that some Thai fishermen are illegally fishing in their waters, and are saying that the Indonesian navy will shoot and sink the thai boats.
How do you think they will feel if we do the same as Indonesian fishing boats are constantly invading Australian waters, even landing on our shores with their animals, dogs, chickens etc. We arrest them, fine the captains, confiscate and burn the boats according to quarantine regulations and deport the crews . However we do not shoot at them.

Large fishing vessels registered in Thailand are mostly owned by Chinese companies with their fishery factories in Thailand. These large fishing vessels usually stay out months at sea. Sometimes, they would meet and buy fishery products from other foreign fishing vessels at international water to take back to Thailand for processing. The common fishermen are not abled to afford these large fishing vessels with freezers and with on board processing centers.

Rooster jan 6th..............So are you saying that you think that its ok for the Indo navy to sink these large boats, just because they belong to Chinese business peaple ? There are International Maritime Rules you know! Many years ago when i was a young man in the Royal Navy, we were intercepting Arab Dhows carrying young boys and girls from Africa to the Persian Gulf. as slaves. Often during the chase they would throw their captives overboard. We would have just loved to sink them with our Bofors guns but we could not do that.............International Maritime Rules prohibit this!

Aussie, No. I am telling you the reality of company and ship ownerships in Thailand. I am not sanctioning ship sinking at all. And I am aware that there are illegal fishing. I knew that these Thai registered ships would waite in the international water to purchase fishery products from whoever would bring in the cargos. Yes, I knew about the Arab slave traders too. They have been doing it for centuries it is their way of living according to their Mafia doctrine in their Quran since it is ok to do whatever to infidels. What do you think the Arab traders have to trade with Siam when they came to our shores? They have almost nothing other than the things that they stole along the way. Islam had religiously sanctioned international terrorism and global piracy. Islamists always spoke of their piracies as religious missions.
