Asia’s biggest toy fair taps into booming adult 'toys' market in Kidult World

7 Nov 2012 – HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair 2013 will be held from 7 to 10 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. With a track record of success spanning 38 years, the 39th edition will highlight the new Kidult World, riding on the industry trend to adult toys and games.

The fair has built a strong reputation through the decades and has developed into the largest event of its kind in Asia, and the second largest in the world. The 2012 fair attracted over 35,800 buyers, a record number. This year, 1,900 exhibitors are expected to set up booths in the fairground, ready to meet their potential business partners.

Group Pavilions attract worldwide eyesight

The fair attracts buyers from all over the world. In 2012 visitors came from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and the US, among other countries and regions. The global profile of visitors means that the Toys & Games Fair is ideal for establishing connections in a variety of markets, both mature and emerging. To satisfy buyers’ need, the fair also include the following group pavilions in the coming edition: Chinese Mainland, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and World of Toys Pavilion.


The 2013 show incorporates a special highlight that focuses on items specifically for the adult market. High spending power characterises these consumers, who are very demanding of product quality. The newly launched Kidult World brings three zones under one umbrella including hobby goods; magic items; vehicles, mechanical toys & action figures.

To emphasise this new highlight, additional activities for Kidult World exhibitors will be arranged. Buyers can have a glimpse of selected key products from the three zones at the Kidult World Display Area located in Hall 1E concourse. Special display area in Hall 3E showcasing an array of transport models allows buyers to preview products of this sector at ease. And a demonstration area for airsoft guns is available for buyers to experience the “power” of the airsoft guns.

The highly commended Brand Name Gallery deserves special mention as the showcase for some of the best toys of the year. It is a special environment in which suppliers and brands are offered a great chance to promote their brand image through the presentation of high quality products.

Gather all what consumers want to play

To enhance the efficiency and the value of the fair, it is organised into themed zones including Candy Toys; Educational Toys & Games; Electronic & Remote Control Toys; Festive & Party Items, Toy Parts & Accessories; Multiple Toy Products/General Merchandise; Outdoor & Sporting Items; Paper Products & Toy Packaging; Soft Toys & Dolls; Testing, Inspection & Certification; Trade Servicesand Video Games.

Product Demo and Launch Pad is a platform for pavilions and exhibitors to promote and demonstrate their new products, draw the attention of buyers and overseas journalists and, more importantly, attract potential business partners. A special version of Product Demo and Launch Pad for Kidult World will be held during the fair.

In 2013, the fair features a number of special events for both exhibitors and buyers. One of these is theHong Kong Toys and Baby Products Award. This is a competition which highlights innovative, creative, eco-friendly toys and baby products. A number of seminars on market trends, market development and safety directives will be held to keep participants updated on the latest industry news, while enhancing the fair's role as a platform for the exchange of market intelligence.

HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair generates positive feedback from exhibitors. 2012 exhibitor Konstantinos Verdes, General Director of Verdes Innovations S.A. in Greece, said, “We have had many enquiries, from Australia, India, Malaysia and Singapore and many from Europe, which is very encouraging, as well as the US and Canada.”

Held concurrently with HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair are the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, Hong Kong International Stationery Fair and HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show. The scheduling of all four fairs for the beginning of 2013 is expected to draw the attention of buyers from every corner of the globe and enable fruitful trading and valuable intelligence exchanges between exhibitors and buyers.
