UK seize Thaksin $4.2 billion-true or false?

UK seize Thaksin $4.2 billion-true or false?

Postby Veto on Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:41 am

There seems to be much talk about this now. As an international day trader I tend to follow international business news over local politics. Thaksin DID make many bad investments this year. He did loose money in China, Dubai, and Swiss. Ex-trt/ppp switched sides and he lost his political allies. They know the party is over. International banksters very good at demolishing wealth and assets in this global crisis.
Was much of Thaksin wealth ill-gotten? How much still exists? Is it only $500million? Ex-wife consolidated her assets if she listened to her attorney. She didn't like his money hiding/transfer schemes which got her UK visa revoked, too.
Thaksin nominees hiding wealth is why UK seized assets and revoked visa. There is some truth to all this since UK not denying it. (I did read BK blog and links...there is some truth to all this)
I believe any ill-gotten Thaksin wealth seized belongs to Thai people and could be returned true proper political channels. I also believe Thai need to stop enabling this criminal mastermind under this guise of so-called democracy. The money seized belongs to ALL Thai and not Thaksin.
I am usually all for overturning ANY tyrannical regime. This is not the case here. This is ONLY about Thaksin trying to get his frozen assets back, even if he has to bribe judges, military, etc. The money belongs to Thai.

Using current rules and regulations, most wealthy people are there as a result of "ill gotten gains", where would you like to start?

I doubt that and I don’t think it’s true, as Thaksin hasn’t done anything here for British government to seize his asset here. Yet another rumour shall we say!

When I first started hearing about this...(before the Nation posted it) it was $4.2 million seized in the UK. English is a strange language. In Old British English million means billion and billion means million. (something that still confuses us day traders) Seems to make more sense if Thaksin doesn't comment on it or attempt to claim it. But there is MUCH MORE Truth to all this story.
WHERE IS THAKSIN NOW?? will continue to be the headlines for some time to come. (He did call in to a Khon Kaen rally but whereabouts undisclosed)

There is a difference between "moral" and "immoral". Legalities are secondary in these circumstances. (the more you have, the less you lose)

Perhaps said person is keeping his balls warm, cant' have a serious game without a ball in the court!

Veto

I already sent this to you on another forum... are you still trying to beat the same false drum?

hi Veto....

just before you run away with the story...

"read international news, like arab business, financial times, etc.
Headlines are about Thaksin down to less than $500million due to BAD
finanacial investments in Swiss, Dubai, China, etc.... frozen assets
totaling $4.2 billion in UK due to money laundering and tax evasion.,"

are you aware that our reliable blogger emailed the original author of
the story in the Arabian Business mag and received an apologetic reply
that he made a mistake, his assets were not frozen in the UK....

here is the ref, see the authors reply as a comment at the end:
http://bangkokpundit.blogspot.com/2008/ ... ssets.html

of course in Thailand the Nation has fallen straight down the hole of
unverified stories... (like they did with the Suvarnabhum CTX scanner
stories)

regards

RE: read it...that's why I posted this new topic!!
This story has legs and will play out, despite BKK bloggers attempts. There are other postings of this and similar stories playing out if you follow all the links from your so-called BKK blogger. Everyone I know lost $$ in Sept./Oct. if they had investments. The more heavily invested, the more they suffered. Are you or anyone here stating Thaksin was the ONLY person in the world that made money investing Sept/Oct?? and didn't loose a major fortune?I know half the people in Thailand thinks he's superman, and the other half think he's a crook. Reality is he lost in trading in Swiss, UK, Dubai, and China, and in his divorce despite what you hear. Down to $500million seems to be plausible. He has so many nominees it's hard to separate truth from fiction.

WHERE IS THAKSIN NOW? will be the headlines for some time to come. I know many here don't like what I say in these postings but I've been almost 100% correct and ahead of the curve so far.

In another topic and post I compare Issan politicians to Issan drivers. (If you know what I mean) If you want Issan politicians you're asking for a 3-5 people to screw in a lightbulb style gov't. I LOVE Issan people, their food, their music, their parties, BUT not until they learn to drive will I believe the can run a gov't.

Let us see Veto, I am not a financial wizard nor do I read the Arab business papers. I do read CNN, BBC, Bloomberg or other news, though. I think that I have got some common sense, that is why I want to try to share with you my two Satang worth of thoughts.

Dr Thaksin was a mega rich business man before becoming a politician. He build a telecommunication emporium worth trillions. He then made some transactions and deals witch may or may not have been completely legal.

Fact is, that since after the coup witch ousted him, he has been accused of a thousand and one wrong doings. Strange enough, he was only sentenced for the land deal duda thing. If you read the post “If law is Law”, then you may have found out even by yourself that this only sentence against him, was just a science fiction thing based on nothing.

So my question to you, if he was so bad and has done all those things for witch you accuse him, how comes that nothing solid according to the laws has been proved against him? How comes that he has not been sentenced for all those accusations? The UK visa removal and the freezing of his UK assets, what was that based on? Just Science fiction?

Further you accuse him for stealing from the poor I-Saan people, how comes that they still love him? How comes that he has done so much good in some parts of I-Saan if he was a thief? Where did all the wealth from the Bangkok elite and aristocracy come from? Who have they been stealing from? Any answers in the Arab business news?
