The Media
Re: The Media
So many posts between yours and mine...but you can see for yourself that many have gone for the USA ban and not what I think was your original intention...to speak about the media and specifically the press in general and their reporting. Perhaps one should be thankful that they allow a Forum in which most posts are actually posted. Maybe, just maybe they can use the more unbiased ones as a means to express peoples views in their editorial columns...one will never know!
As I said (or inferred) before, there is a fine line between being outright against the Government and being faced with sackings of reporters or even Les Majeste charges...and being able to report in a way that is tolerant to the Government but still hinting of "wrongdoings"...for want of a better word. For me the BP does tihs in a better way that the Nation...which is why I prefer to be in this forum.

If we allow ourselves to live by rumor or hearsay, as it will pass from one person to another, which might not have anything to do with the truth or base of truth then the damage would have been really bad for those concern. The media is always relying on the rumor as base to further digging. Some time it may have some little truth in it but if you take it out of context and allow ourselves imagination to run away with us then what would happen. This is one of the problem in our culture as most live there life base on rumor and hearsay.
Voice,
It's been discussed sometime ago in the Nation Blog by a few Bloggers about the integrity and accuracy of the media in this country and it seemed that the main problem with them is they are not doing any investigative reports themselves but simply copying from each other and when this kind of practice goes around, How accurate can the actual news be at the end? It actually turned a true report into a misled report. That's why most rather look to the foreign press rather than the locals ones for confirmations.

Prommee_Ne,
Not because now that I'm in BP forum I have to praise them but I honestly find the BP news are more reliable even when I was in the Nation Blog and the articles that they wrote are more neutral. I have just read 3 post, 2 from the Nation, one from the BP. 2 of them in my opinion are writing in a fair and neutral way with facts, one is just spilling his own hatre over a politican. Here's the links and when you have time to read it, do give me some input of what you think...

Yeah Minnie, it could well find itself being Sued for a billion baht and its employees fired , just like Thaksin did over the cracks in the new airport runways fiasco, which if i,m not mistaken the BPs allegations were found later to be true by the THAI PRESS COUNCIL.

I just posted the following lines under the joke of the day topic, but I think that it is more appropriated in here.
Bangkok Post article censured?
Today in the Bangkok Post a link to, “L*s* mªj*st* suspect flees”.
So I click on it and, “Error: File not found !!!
Are even Thai English news sites censured now?
A joke, or just simply SAD?

This must be Abhisit’s way of showing the world the clean image of Thailand.
Unfortunately, foreign press do report news like that. But who cares, foreign press anyways only tells lies about Thailand. Here they would probably say, that it was suicide.
