Amendments to the constitution

Amendments to the constitution

Postby Chris-TH on Sun Apr 19, 2009 4:38 pm

Apparently the Gov is now prepared to listen to proposals of amendments to the constitution.

A lot of us here do not have any word in that process, but if you had, what would you propose?

Let ME start out by rocking the boat:

Remove Section 309 as the first action.

For those of you that do not have the constitution as hand, here is a good link:

Section 8 should be looked at as should

Section 30. All persons are equal before the law and shall enjoy equal protection under the law.

Men and women shall enjoy equal rights.

Unjust discrimination against a person on the grounds of the difference in origin, race, language, sex, age, disability, physical or health condition, personal status, economic or social standing, religious belief, education or constitutionally political view, shall not be permitted.

Measures determined by the State in order to eliminate obstacle to or to promote persons’ ability to exercise their rights and liberties as other persons shall not be deemed as unjust discrimination under paragraph three.

Would be nice if section 30 was a reality with section 74

Section 74. A Government official, official or employee of a government agency, State agency, State enterprise or local government organisation and other State official shall have a duty to act in compliance with the law in order to protect public interests, and provide convenience and services to the public according to the good public governance principle.

In performing the duty and other act relating to the public, the person under paragraph one shall be politically impartial.

In the case where the person under paragraph one neglect or fail to perform the duties under paragraph one or paragraph two, the interested person shall have the right to request the person under paragraph one or his superior to explain reason and request them to act in compliance with the provisions of paragraph one or paragraph two.

Yeah NAB,

I would like to have the same provisions as an imported Burmese worker. Then my wife could employ me to do the cooking for 3000 bht a month and I would get a visa and work permit at very low cost.

Hi NAB, yeah section 30 would be a dream come true and i don,t think anyone would give you any argument on that one, however noble your thoughts are or indeed everybody else,s are, i have deep reservations that this in practise will never come about here in Thailand, but i along with many others can live in hope i suppose.

What do you think of this "Some politicians are dissatisfied with an article in the current charter which provides for the dissolution of a party if its leader or executive member engages in electoral fraud. Four parties have been dissolved under the terms of this article."

Think its got anything to do with the case of the donation received by the democrates? I personally don't think he's doing it for the sake of the other parties...

For sure that is a point. Making it sweeter by letting other people off the hook. However it would not affect ALL executives of the Dems, unless the 2006/2007 constitutions are retroactives. Only the people that was aware/part of the scam, if the was in fact a scam.

We pay ours the going rate which is more than that! I refuse to let the missus discriminate. She either pays the going rate for a Thai or they don't come in our house.
Economic racism will not be tolerated in my household other than that I do as I'm told :(
