I'm sure I speak for many other contributors to this Forum when I say that I despair of ever seeing an intelligent response or valid contribution from you to a serious topic, posting or question
Hey Pappy ,you will find i NEVER get tired of "firing back" you want to trade insults then that's fine with me, i tried to inform you that i was an admirer of Simon Weisenthal and indeed the Jewish race as a whole of who i have NEVER made any derogatory remarks, my problem is with the creeping menace of Islamic fundamentalism , you think calling me "banged up in Buriram" and "bankrupt in Buriram" , and Scy "Trapped in Trang" is an intelligent response on your behalf?, i suggest you read some of the insulting drivel you have written in the last month or so before you comment on others, i now see you have another "intelligent response" on the other thread "Buried in Buriram", your total hypocrisy measure 6.9 on the Richter scale,LOLOLOL.

Re: new visa rules for foreigners
This is my first application for 12 mth multiple entry visa which, I think,is the same visa as discussed in other replies. I understand that I do not have to leave the country every 3 months but have report to immigration every 3 mths. I have not been here 3 mths yet but am aware that the rules can/seem to change from the overseas country to when in Thailand.
I will of course know more when my 3 mth visit is conducted with immigration Thailand.

You cannot report to immigration you MUST exit the country, only those with retirement or marriage visas are allowed to report every 90 days and do not need to exit the country.

Quite correct Mike, but that only applies to this week, cos next week the rules could well be changed again!,LOL.

You are supposed to have funds in a Thai bank before getting a Type O but you cannot open your own account until you have the visa

With the work permit you can get full banking services including internet -this was current with the Bangkok Bank at All Seasons Place in March.

I have four Thai bank accounts, I have two Thai ATM cards, I have full internet banking, I have one account that specifically handles all my monthly bills and standing orders and direct debit. I have the same facilities as my bank in England but with better service and friendlier staff, from the manager down to the doorman.
Now is everyone going to say that my branch of the SCB is unique, or am I uniquely lucky. Incidentally I got the same service at my Bangkok branch before I transferred to the suburbs.

"visa requirement for a 1 year multible entrance visa applied from abroad, your home country"
So many posts about in-country Retirement Non-O, which requires bank deposit proof ect. This change of policy (if true!) applies to those who acquire their Visa before leaving the US from a Thai Embassy in the US! For the last 6 years I've got my Multi-Entry Visas before I left the US, $175 for 1 year Visa. I'm required to cross over the boarder every 90 day's, no proof of bank statements or deposits required!
So if this is true, it's another stab in the back to us Farangs wishing to retire here in Thailand, over 50, spending our money supporting families, Thai businesses and contributing our money to the economy here in many ways. I have looked at a few of the Thai Consulate sites and no new requirements yet for Multi-Entry. http://www.thai-or.com/ I'll be going back soon for 2 months, so hopefully I'll still be able to get my Multi-Entry Visa (1 year) without the new regulations!
When is the Government-Immigration going to ease up on this discrimination against those contributing to their country? The economy (tourist trade) is already destroyed by the Red-Yellow Shirts antics!!! Where else can a mob close down a International Airport and occupy a Government Office and walk away free!! Wake up Thailand!!

I have been hit twice in the 4 visas I have had, the first time 2 years ago I went to renew my retirement visa and was told that I had to have the 800,000 in the bank for 90 days that one cost me nearly 75,000 baht for a trip back to the UK to renew my visa and then just over a year ago I renewed my visa in Penang as I am married to a Thai national and had 400,000 in the bank then when I go to renew it this year I was told that I now need 800,000 in the bank so back I go to the UK and another 80,000 baht wasted, if I was not married to a Thai I would have left by now as I am fed up with the annual visa problems and moving the goalposts.

Hi Mike , yeah it,s a bloody joke to say the least ,the problem is that different immigration officers interpret the laws as they see them and you get a wide variety of the so called "rule,s", what a mess eh.
