Do you agree that Thailand sex workers seen as more trustworthy than government officials? Especially the brown uniform forces.

Hi Tim , to be candid I think your post just about says it all don,t it, and I also think any other posts on this subject only confirms the point you are trying to get across that your thoughts are undeniable !!.

It's really a shame that this happened to a foreigner. There are much more cases (not only airport), but not everything will be published or many foreign people went to the police, but they don't do anything about it.

I live already 11 years in Phuket and I see that the police and the immigration, are more less friendly and helpful then before.
Less friendly is not the good word for it. They are brutal, impolite and rude.

There are many good foreigners living (working) in Thailand who spend allot of money here and help Thai people to have a better live.

I work here, pay taxes et cetera, but still after all this years I feel like a dog and consider now to leave Thailand. There are many other Asian countries where foreign people are really welcome.

After all this years, I know it's all about money. Bring and leave the country!

Thai people "police, immigration and government" should show more respect for foreign people.

Thailand will dig their own grave in the future when they will not change their attitude.

Of course Einstein you are quite correct and few if any farangs will disagree, however I find this problem manifests itself solely in the tourist area,s were the "wrong element" of Thai society seems to converge with the lure of the "quick baht", I,ve lived here in my little village 60 kms south of Buriram since April 04 and have NEVER had one problem ,either with the local populace, the police ,or the immigration who I truly find bend over backwards to assist , I,ve a great social life with upwords of 30 or so farangs who live in my area were we carouse almost nightly in our local "watering hole", maybe I,m somewhat lucky who knows, one thing I know for certain there is no way I,m going back to the UK with all its problems I see daily on my satellite TV .

Not as serious but happened to me last saturday, I purchased a carton of L.M. menthol cigarettes for the wife @ ////// power duty free, handed over my passport, boarding ticket, & baht 1000 to the male cashier, after the transaction, making sure passport, boarding pass was safely stowed, & await my 700 baht change,he handed me the cigarettes,& thankyou very much, quickly trying to finalise the deal,I reminded him where's my change,Oh all apolejetic,I got my change, But I thought afterwards how many people would be pre-occupied with exchange rates, passport, board. pass etc, that they would overlook change from purchase.Maybe my suspicious mind, but be wary with ////// power or ////// of theives.

Cashiers don't forget to give change. Their job has basically 2 duties - accept money and give change. How can they forget?
I suppose that the ////// Power Cashiers are so used to being able to cheat customers of their change that they can't kick the habit, and they know they can get away with it because nobody has the time to make a formal complaint. On the good side, though, karma will prevail, so justice will be done.

Who knows? Maybe they have a system a bit like in the police. They have to pay their superiors a certain amount of money each month, so they have to practise corruption in order to get it.
