PAD and foreigners

I’ve been reading these posts and I have to laugh at most of them. A lot of you guys are jumping to conclusions regard to the turmoil here. Thais are not ready to kick us out of Thailand, what good would it do them? Planes from Europe to Thailand (and most other countries) are scheduled flights, whether full or not the airlines must adhere to their contract and fly the planes.
This is not our country and the political situation is nothing to do with farangs, we must sit back and let them get on with it. I’ve see some \\\ ///// farangs put a red shirt on and rally with the reds, Next time they go to immigration to have their visa extended it could be that they are recognised and possibly deported. They can only blame themselves for getting involved in what has nothing to do with them.
Due to the turmoil we can only hope that we get more Baht for our European currency.

That would make the black shirts hooded men, terrorists. They shot both soldiers, red shirts and a Japanese Reporter.

We don't know of their alignment, but from their action the most likely consequences intended was to create violence and bloodshed and destabilise the govt. Maybe power struggle in the army, maybe doing a favour for certain group who wants to regain political power.

I know many going to follow the limited govt oppression model and deduce that the govt shoots the protesters, but we all know that such bloodshed would only hurt the government most, so either the govt is highly stupid or certain group tries to create certain situation to suit their justifications, which is a much more rational explanation.

This is very interesting you have point out all the good example for Thai people that without Foreigners help ThaiLand would be a much poorer country.

Just-1-Voice wrote:Ok, there are some People Against Democracy devotees in here who are stating that all foreigners be kicked out of Thailand so that Thailand can solve their own problems. Let’s take the on a trip down the Yellow Brick Road to Never, Never Land (yeah, I’m mixing stories here, but what the heck) and give them an idea of what it would be like if that were to happen.

Let’s start with the biggest, and most notable.

AUTOMOBILES - Honda – Toyota – Isuzu – Mitsubishi - GM - Ford - Chevrolet. These are all owned by, excuse me, FOREIGNERS, and if they are kicked out Thailand, they are taking their business with them. No more factories that employ THOUSANDS of Thai, so they are all out of work. Not to mention all the “satellite” companies associated with the factories themselves, such as companies that produce transmissions, door handles, mirrors, interior carpeting, windshields and side windows, etc., so all of those companies also have to shut down as well. There go the jobs for a few thousand more Thai. And, of course, all of the dealer showrooms and dealerships would also have to be shut down as well. Again, another few thousand Thai out of work.

STEEL INDUSTRY – A large portion of their sales go to the automobile manufacturers, but since there won’t be any of those left, they will have to cut back, firing even more hard working Thai.

HOTELS – 95% of them would have to shut down. Hotels are built for tourists and visiting business people. No foreign tourists, no foreign business men, no need for hotels. Thailand’s own governmental department dealing with tourism has stated that approximately 1.5 MILLION Thai who work in the tourist industry, or have tourist related jobs, will lose those jobs next year due to what PAD has done. So if you have to shut down 95% of the hotels, how many millions of Thai will THAT put out of work?

How many business that depend on tourists in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Samoui will have to close up shop and put all their people out of work?

You can also shut down Thai Immigration, and all their thousands of workers. After all, if no one is coming in to the country, what do you need an Immigration Department for?

And, of course, there go all the McDonalds, KFC and other Non-Thailand business franchise as well. A few thousand more out of work.

With all the MILLIONS of Thai now put out of work because all the foreigners are gone, who is going to step in and help them out? Is PAD prepared to give jobs to them that pay as much as they make now, or even a job at all???

If all the foreigners left, or were forced to leave, Thailand would fall into total anarchy within a week. For a group that claims THEY are the “educated” and know what’s best for the country, why is it that we can’t get an intelligent response or comment from any of them? Why do they all spout the same rote ideology, which they can’t intelligently defend, and resort to name calling and threats towards anyone who disagrees with them. If that’s the “intelligent” group, I’d rather be with the stupid northerners any day of the week.

It will be pure naivity to think that the Thailand do not value foreigners and their investments. No country is an island especially Thailand which has an open economy. Thailand too like all developing countries would want to move up their per capital income ladder which will its people to enjoy a better standard of living. Thailand has always been a major FDI destination and the improving business laws and policies are business friendly.

However Thailand has always shot themself on the foot with all the political happenings and has not really live up to its strength. The world business communities only look at hardlines to assess their investments. Coups, shooting, deaths and a careless phasing of the word terrorist are not the type of risk assessment headline information you want the world to know. Peaceful demonstration is a constitutional right and the world can accept that. Shutting opposition media so that you can control the airwaves is not democracy. Confrontation by military is seen as excessive use of force. Neither is the wrong strategy of the Reds in having armed gunmen who has to fight back when confronted.

Cannot get any better! What an idea ... I hope you think about this before you post it. Darn, you people do not know how to loose. Instead of trying to work on the next election campaign, you people chose to making mobs deter foreigners which those are jobs = money = better quality of life... I guess being mobs is the quality of life you are seeking? sleeping on the street..eating on the side walk..no jobs...do not know where you children are..

So you think...when the person you want become a PM then your bills will get paid? or you will have a better job, living in a big house with A/C on and drive a European made car ? Think about it, think about what you are doing. It's huge mess in Thailand right now and it looks really disgusting from the outside looking in..

In our country history, Thai people love Peace... our national anthem said so everyday ไทยนี้รักสงบ. We should not kill each other just because one person cannot accept the fact that he lost. Ask yourself...Is that person really worth it for us to fight and kill each other? ..why don't you try to ask him to donate half of his billions to build more hospitals, more schools, more libraries and more roads and subways, create more jobs and do really good things for the country and then may be just may be the next election he can have it. He can run the country at his best ability... RIGHT NOW ALL COLORS SHIRTS please STOP AND LOOK WHO IS THE ONE YOU REALLY LOVE AND WHO IS THE ONE that IS REALLY LOVE YOU AND THE COUNTRY..
You said so yourself " love live the //////" What do you do to help him lives longer beside adding more heartache and headache to see Thai citizen killing each other... Please stop fighting...it's not worth it, Only a few people will get what they want..power, money..but you regular people who became a mob or became one of them? You will end up with the same or even lesser than what you have.

My dearly beloved Thai people of all colours!
I am very confused: Is this situation in the past, and now there is a new situation on? What is the difference between PAD and UDD? What is happening to my favourite foreign country? :?: I love thai food, respect and love the people, the customs, music and Thailand's natural beauty. But now I'm afraid to bring my family there for holidays again... And my 13-year old son has just learned enough thai to manage in a restaurant or shops and would love to practice his skills... He listens to Asanee & Wasan on his mobile phone and learns the lyrics by heart. He can sing Krung Thep Mahanakorn perfectly!
For all of us "thai" lovers abroad and in Thailand, I hope that the situation will be peacefully resolved. Or maybe you could make the top opponents do muay thai - kickboxing instead... Who wins, wins! ;) Greetings and hope for everybody from Scandinavia.

And just in case anybody wonders, I'm a middle aged mother of 3 boys. I have taught the whole family my love of Thailand and its people. I have been living and working there 1989-91 as a tourguide so I got to know a bit more of the country than just many tourists do, also having a local nice, ordinary boyfriend back then.
Now travelling,we always use money on local products, restaurants etc instead of multinational companies'. I love to bring my family to my favourite place on earth (Thailand) every year and find new non-touristic spots to explore. I even have a dream of living there with the family after my youngest son has finished school. With all the problems, politics and different people we still love Thailand.

without foreigners Thailand will become like Myanmar... wha are these people thinking... I thnk if the reds win the elections(which I hope), it's about time to lock up pad leaders and start making Thailand a society that cares not only for the elite but mostly for the common people. I'm not sure if the reds will do that but we should give them a chance. PAD is against democracy( they don't want free and fair elections as they know there are more red shirt supporters than yellow shirt supporters) and apparently also against the Thai economy.
I agree however that the sexindustry has to stop, but I don't think PAD wants that because some of their key supporters make big money out of it.
