Your Local Pubs and Hangouts in Bangkok

The next NHL Hockey playoff game is on NBC at 2 AM Bangkok time. It should be easier to get this game since it's on earlier and on a bigger broadcast network. So, is there any pub or sports bar in Bangkok that can get the NBC feed and stays open past 2AM for special occasions? Tony... I'll see ya there to witness the tying up of this series!!!

It's Monday Morning and I missed that game! I will try again. Have a week before returning to the States. I guess I will hit the pavement and continue the search. If anyone can recommend that sports bar I can do the rest.

Thanks glad you guys(and gals)are here.

I like 'Bangkok Beat' on Suk Soi 7/1. Used to be called 'Absolute'. Brilliant band and open until the very early hours. The doors and outside lights are closed at 2am but just push the door and walk inside.

Funny with all the places to go whenever I'm in Bangkok I can never think of where to go out.
The Bulls Head I've always liked and the Witches Tavern is quite cheap for an English pub.
Cowboy is good for meeting people like someone said, and the guy screaming obscenities at
passersby at the street bars on Sukhumvit is not the only one in moonlight hours. I also saw the sun rising
there for many years and had some very enjoyable all nighters.
Saxophone at Victory Monument is a very nice pub if you like jazz, unfortunaltely I don't.
I wasn't particularly bowled over by the Australian although it is very Australian if thats what you like.
If you've never been to one of the view point bars of Bangkok then be sure to try the Banyan Tree,
State Tower or Millenium Hilton, obviously they're not cheap though.
And if you really are a cheap charlie then try cheap charlies on Soi 11 I think.

I would go to the Saxophone pub. Mostly Thais though staff speaks English. The food is good and well priced, the cocktails leave a bit to be desired in the alcohol department, but they have a choice of beer and wine - though better buy a bottle if there are more people drinking wine.

You can make reservations for a table and the music is good. I personally like the little big band.

You can find all the bands, the schedule and youtube movies of their performance online. Most bands are good, though you have to be in the mood for T-Bone I guess. Keep in mind that it is not that easy to have in depth conversations if a little brass instrument orchestra is blowing their lungs out :-).

Oh, and it is conveniently located at Victory Monument on the BTS line.

Can somebody recommend a nice club for a small birthday party, where you come with a small group of friends, have a good meal and meet and celebrate with more people ?????
Thanks !

These places are popular in Japan too!!

A well-known club on Ratchadaphisek Road is open until early in the morning. The furnishings and decorations are luxurious. Drinks start at 250 baht each for customers and 300 baht for escorts.

I would check out a couple of spots, Chequers on Soi 4 is an ex-pat bar with a big rugby and cricket crowd, no girlie hassle, good banter, air con, great menu, you can even create your own playlists and play your music if you can get past Laura :)

Soi 8 pub (I will let you guess the location) is a bigger version although you cannot influence music choice as much.

Good Luck
