Yeah David , I first went to Samui in 89 Bophut was a sleepy little fishing village with a few restaurants and no through road , I went there 3 years ago, for me the place HAS CHANGED FOR THE WORSE BEYOND ALL RECOGNITIONdavid wrote:It’s sad Saumi authorities allowed the island to become over developed. The former Pearl of the Gulf’s decline is pitful when remembering what it was like in the 80s early 90s. The islanders should consider restoring the islands environment instead of worrying about their businesses if and when an oil spill occurs.

Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul said there would be no accidental oil spills in the Gulf of Thailand like the one in the Gulf of Mexico as the geological characteristics were completely different.
The pressure of oil reserves in the Gulf of Thailand was low and it was impossible for oil to flow as extensively as it did in the Gulf of Mexico, he said.

Everyone wants a fast profit these days. So little care for the environment anymore. We're dooming ourselves in the long long run.
