Childrens politics

Lately I have been observing my children (2 girls, 3 and 5 years old), and came to the conclusion that there is a lot of similarity between them and Thai (wannabe) politicians.

When my children want something, and we say no, their reaction is that they start to whine, and say I don't wanna love love daddy anymore.

That's the same that these stupid PAD & TPN people are doing. We want this piece of land. We can't have it, o.k. we don't recognise the authority anymore of the one that said it.

With my children though, in the end they still love me, because they know I am the one feeding, clothing, educating, etc them.

The problem with Thai politicians is that they don't seem to realise that for this country to prosper (socially, economically and polically) you need good relations with the rest of the world (like it or not, you ARE dependent on them) and especially you don't pick a fight with your next door neighbour.

If your child has a fight with the next door boy, you don't send your child with a gun to shoot him. Especially if the boy has a bigger gun than you. That's exactly what this \\\ ///// Abhisit did when endorsing heavy militairy excercises near the Cambodian border.

In the end, my 3 year old is showing more political capability than even the so-called "seasoned" politicians here in Thailand.
When we don't let our kids play outside in the Soi (because we are tired to be out every evening to watch them) my little girl NEGOTIATES (dear Thai politicians, can you even READ that word) with her 3 year old friend, daughter of our British friend in the same soi, to get here father and say collect them, to say it's allright and he will watch them.

So, in the end Childrens politics isn't event the right wording for Thai politicians. Really what they are is Cry Babies.

"PM Abhisit endorsed heavy military exercises near the Cambodian border". Hmm…what if Cambodia responses in kind ? Does the word “collateral damage” mean anything to the warmongers? It's pathetic that the PM has catered to the PAD and TPN die-hard gangs.

It has been reported that the Cambodian Defense Ministry is dispatching battle tanks and more troops to the border in response to the Thai military exercise in the area. What are we going to do next, Mr. PM? Red alert…battle station?

Read today in the Bangkok post in an article in which the PAD claims the government is planning to disperse the protest:

""The government's attempt will fail because the PAD will not move anywhere unless the government accedes to our three demands," Maj Gen Chamlong said. He said the government should concentrate on the Thai-Cambodian problem instead of focusing on the yellow-shirt protesters.
"As a professional demonstrator, I can affirm that our rally will not end. If our rally is dispersed today, we can start it again tomorrow."

EXCUSE ME? A professional demonstrator? Naive as I am I though your profession had something to do with being a Major General. Silly me.

Wonder what it pays to be a professional demonstrator. Can I apply?

It is very laughable that dotchboy compare the politician of Thai with the his 2 daughters. But you are not far from the truth. There is no government that can survive without the support from other countries in the world. There is supposed to be bilateral relationship to ensure good growth.
With that, the country will be able get what she wants as as when needed when the needs call for it.
