Don't mind 'Blue Lighting' bar Sukumvit Soi 7/1.It is down the end on the left hand side, next bar down from The Down Under bar.Predominantly an ex-pats hide away, owned by a young English guy called Jamie who has lived and worked in Bangkok for a number of years.Clientele are a good mix and always some one to have a conversation with and friendly.Thursday/Friday nights are worth a visit for a crack!

Got to admit, it's a classy joint, albeit pricy. However, you get what you pay for! Perhaps the best jazz in town? and great Italian food

Niu's on Silom Road between Soi 17 and Soi 19.

Nomads has live music most nights.

Sunday, they have a jam session from 9.30pm. All welcome. The "New Band Showcase" slot from 8.30pm to 9.30pm is still available. Call to reserve a space. 081 814 9990.

Mondays they have acoustic open mic night.

Saw an entertaining James Brown tribute band recently. Hugh afro’s included!

At the far end of Silom Soi 4.

See where the long running Nomads has shut its doors as the leaseholder and owner could not come to terms on a new lease.

This was the one and only place that had farang and Thai bands 7 nights a week.

Had the pleasure to see great guitar player, Mason Ruffner perform there recently. Probably the best blues guitarist I'd seen in Thailand.

Thanks for all the good times!

On a brighter note I see some big names acts listed to perform in Thailand in the next few months. Clapton, Eagles and Santana.

Still prefer going to a nightclub to pricey arena for music though!

They don’t play these guys new music on da radio, so don’t know what the new music sounds like.

My wife wants to hear, ‘tears in heaven’, ‘hotel california’, and ‘black magic woman’, but frankly unless I hear something new, I’s don’t see shelling out the baht, making the effort to get out ot the cavernous hall on the outskirts of town to hear these rather tired old numbers.

Respite in the city

Went to a cool Mexican restaurant the other night. Not really a fan of Mexican food, but the building / grounds sure are pleasant. It’s the old Italian ambassador’s residence on Sukhumvit Soi 14. Grand old home must be at least 60 years old, teak wood with beautiful verandas on the second floor. Great place to find some silence and a cool drink.

Had a new experience in Indian Chaat located between Sukhumvit Soi 23 and 31. Food and the prices are both very good.

Also, recently had tried the korean restaurant located Sukhumvit Soi 59 (keep forgetting the name)...amazing korean food but a little pricey.

Londoners is really good too.

For pub and pool, I really enjoy my time in Hustlers in Sukhumvit Times Square.
